What do you love most about your job?
I spent 12 years in a large international PR agency so I gained a lot of really varied experience. However, as I became more senior, I didn't always have the opportunity to roll my sleeves up and get my hands dirty (so to speak!). Now, I am able to draw on the full breadth of my experience to help and support my clients - from simple and straight forward PR & comms execution, through to more complex strategy development, issues and crises support, and the delivery of bespoke PR training sessions.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started SY1 Consulting in 2011 following a long career in London. I loved London (I still do) and I had gained an awful lot of experience during my career there, but with a young daughter, a long commute, and little room for further progression in the company where I was working, I started to fall out of love with my career there... I wanted to be able to feel valued by clients once again and have more control over the work I did so I took the plunge and became my own boss. I haven't regretted it for one minute and it's great to be able to offer my extensive experience to clients at a cost effective rate.
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients should chose me because:
- I have a depth and breadth of experience that covers almost all areas of the B2B and corporate world
- I have a passion to really get to know my clients and work collaboratively with them to meet their goals
- I am committed to delivering the very best results
- I offer a level of flexibility that you wont find by working with a large organisation
and finally, they should chose me as they may regret it later if they don't!
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Absolutely! I work with clients all over the country and have worked remotely for much of my career. Even when I worked for a large consultancy in London, I spent part of the week working from home so this is no problem at all for me.
I'm a firm believer in regular contact with my clients, whether that's via email, phone or video calls.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
As I work remotely, changes because of Covid-19 have not been necessary for me. I sadly haven't been able to meet my clients face to face for a while but I've maintained regular contact via the phone and video calls.
