Where do we start? Annie and I got hitched at Shustoke Barn in May this year, and we were fortunate enough to stumble across Stephen's Facebook about a year or so beforehand. "Up and coming" was very much the mesage but, as he'd done our venue a few times before, we felt very comfortable having seen the incredible photos he'd taken there. We had ample opportunity to meet up before the wedding to discuss all the logistics and to generally just have a natter! He is incredibly approachable and we felt immediately at ease. On top of that, Stephen clearly has an aptitude for being well organised and this shone throughout the pre-wedding build up, as well as on the day itself. By the time the big day arrived, it's safe to say that Stephen felt almost like an extra guest. He has an uncanny ability to just blend in and not be seen (much to my detriment on some of the photos I'm sure!) but the results speak for themselves. We were delighted with the end product in the preview photos, and can't wait to see the full package in the next few weeks! One final point I feel is worth mentioning offers an insight into Stephen's character. We had an unfortunate family bereavement just after the wedding, and whilst he had no obligation, Stephen managed to get us a few photos of the guest in question from the big day for us to use as part of a memorial gift. This meant a huge deal and we're incredibly grateful for everything he did both before, during and after the wedding. Straight off the bat, it’s important for you - as a person who needs a photographer - to understand that the word “recommend” doesn’t even come close to what we think about Stephen. I didn't have a clue what to look for in a wedding photographer but what I did know is that I didn't want an album full of staged shots with all of us looking a little bit uncomfortable! I browsed the reviews of a few photographers and one of Stephen's reviews, about a bride and her camera shy husband caught my eye. I looked through Stephen's impressive portfolio and got in touch. - Over messages, Stephen was friendly and seemed to know exactly what we were after. When we met him and he was un-phased by our then two year old and his mad behaviour, I knew he was the photographer for us! From day one, Stephen took note of what we wanted and how we wanted our photographer to be part of our day. On the actual day, everyone commented on how well he fitted in, clearly taking some great shots without anyone even realising and obliging when asked to take certain shots. He also came up with some really clever ideas on the day. The day after the wedding, we were delighted to see a selection of sample shots appear in our email inbox and everyone we showed were very impressed. When our full set of photographs arrived, we were delighted and felt as if we were reliving the day as we looked through the photos. When choosing our wedding photographer, it wasn’t just about finding someone who could take lovely photos, but also about finding a genuine, friendly person who would fit in with our laid back day. It is safe to say that Stephen more than delivered in all areas and from the first message he was an absolute dream to work with. The meetings in the build up to the wedding made the whole process not just easy but also good fun. He was very helpful when discussing pricing options and came up with a package that worked perfectly for us. He also really understood the style of photography that we were after and the photos reflect this perfectly. On the actual day, he was very flexible in terms of suggesting moving times around for things like group photos, the first dance and cake cutting in order to not interrupt the flow of the day or the guests’ enjoyment. He even stayed later than originally planned to accommodate us as best as he could. He was also so much more than just a photographer – first-aider, hairdresser, seamstress and buttonhole-fixer are just a few of the extra jobs that he did on the day! Throughout the wedding, so many of the guests commented on how amazing he was as a person and how much they loved him. His kind, friendly personality really shone through and as well as taking photos, he ensured that everyone was happy and enjoying themselves. The photos themselves are brilliant with lots of natural shots just as we had asked for. He was so efficient that he even had a selection of photos edited and sent to us the morning after the wedding, which was a lovely little surprise. Stephen, well where can I start.. After meeting you as the photographer at my sisters wedding in 2016 there was never any doubt that if I was to get married you would definitely be our photographer too. . Luckily for me Phill proposed the following year and I knew instantly i wanted you to be our photographer and didn’t even enquire with anyone else. I knew you would be amazing, but you again completely exceeded our expectations.. From the thoughtful pre-wedding meetings before hand to settle our nerves, the going out and investigating the grounds for suitable and out of the box locations for our photos, the care you gave to me and my bridal party on the morning of the wedding including helping out with flower mishaps and baby wipes for chocolate hands(!) nothing was too much for you. All our guests adored you and in the nicest possible way barely noticed you were there which allowed you to capture some beautiful natural moments that we will treasure forever. You completely put myself and Phill at ease and for two people who aren’t overly keen on having our photo taken (selfies aside ) that was no easy task and still now people are commenting on how lovely our photos are. You are one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet and I hope you continue to go from strength to strength! Stephen was the photographer at our wedding on Saturday, photographer being obviously his main profession, however he was also so much more, a friend, a helper, a ‘calmer downer’ and a faaaabulous golf buggy driver (lol! ) Stephen also did our engagement shoot which massively helped with nerves, I honestly would recommend this so much to anyone who’s a bit camera shy! This is long overdue but I wanted to just say how happy we are with our wedding photos. We got married at Curradine Barns in August 2017 and I knew that, after looking at Stephens style of photography, he would be the perfect man for the job. My husband isn’t very comfortable in front of the camera and, because of Stephen’s relaxed style, Ben barely noticed his photo was being taken most of the time! There were very few staged photos, which was great because it didn’t take us away from our guests for too long!
The quality, the lighting and capturing those little moments that you don’t get chance to see on the day were just all done so well.
It’s not just the photos, it’s Stephen himself. He was so helpful on the day, helping me tweak the decorations and providing me with much needed scissors, an umbrella, plus hair grips and hairspray when my hair was falling out - all from his amazing emergency kit! He was so friendly and chatty, he just fitted in with the whole day. Everyone we have shared our photos with have totally gushed over them and our house is becoming increasingly more decorated with Stephen’s photographs. We cannot thank him enough. Highly recommended! Stephen took some family photos of my baby with me and my husband. The whole process was fantastic. Stephen came to our house and took photos of us doing what we usually do, as well as some more posed ones that we asked for. It was so relaxed and baby really enjoyed it. That doesn't quite cover it however, Stephen was simply the most helpful guest we had. He was prepared for any eventuality, with a level head, upbeat vibe and ready to step in and fix any problems he could (including fallen bunting).
