A fantastic space for training with excellent facilities, equipment and friendly, knowledgeable staff. After some time away from training I joined SPFit 6 months ago and I am enjoying my training more than I ever have. Wednesday nights Broga class has now become an integral part of my training and I only wish I had known about it sooner, I would highly recommend it to anybody of any age, personally it has greatly improved strength, durability, flexibility and given me an increased general awareness of my body. I have been a client of Simon’s for nearly 8 years which speaks volumes. He is kind, motivating ,reliable, a listener,and is prepared to challenge your preconceived ideas about one’s own abilities and potential. He has encouraged me to attempt many different exercise formats with success. The club members are welcoming, fun and cover a wide age range so there are no worries about being a club for the young. Certainly there are many members more able than me in many disciplines but I’m never discouraged and their success only inspires me to try to achieve more. I have had an amazing year with Simon, doing personal training sessions with him weekly, something I have always wanted to do. Firstly he goes out of his way to fit me in, around other clients & my night shift pattern, secondly I am motivated each week, to improve/challenge myself. Programs are challenging yet can also be adapted if not feeling quite a 100%!! I have grown in confidence/strength & fitness. Thirdly there is a great small team approach to spfit. It’s brilliant. I’ve been training with Simon at SPFit since January 2019. Simon was able to modify a program suitable for what I wanted/needed to achieve in order to coincide with my job. Simon has adapted my program as and when injuries have occurred and given me a huge amount of encouragement and motivation. I have been at the studio now for nearly 4 years...training to complete many physical challenges from multi marathons to rowathons and sports wheelchair racing. The training with Simon has been specifically designed to ensure progression is seen and my whole health and well being is taken into account. The sessions are put together by us both with specified short, medium and long term gains. This means that I have always had an input, but more importantly understand what the programme structure is aiming to do, what each exercise is aiming to do, and time scales for targets. The studio is airy and spacious with equipment many gyms would never have...away from the bog standard machines and rows of treadmills, cross trainers and cycles! There is a definite feeling of being a part of a team even though the training that I do is either with Simon [PT] or doing HIIT programmes there on my own. Everyone is friendly, always encouraging to others, and I would love more of the small group training sessions...family ties prevent this unfortunately. I have had 1:1 and group Broga sessions....for someone like me who has bilateral hip dysplasia and is extremely inflexible...it is a must! And YES...even I have progressed!! I cannot say anything negative about Spfit...even when I have had the odd "cannot do this at all today" day, Simon has been completely flexible and has got me through the hour doing something more fun and motivating...I have therefore come away feeling that I have achieved despite feeling not so well. 12/10 rating...my boys have come along to try some sessions with me too and cannot wait to join! I have been a member of SPFit for over a year. Simon is a very motivating trainner who has the ability to listen and understand my fitness needs. He has challenged me to learn new skills and techniques and as a result I feel stronger and more confident about my fitness and abilities. SPFit is friendly and inclusive. Everyone is warmly welcomed and I have made a group of friends who I look forward to seeing every week. We are encouraged to think as a team. Personal training with Simon has made me feel so much stronger physically, but also better able to deal with the stresses of the day (and self-employment! ). It's always just the right level of challenge: I never think I'll be able to do it, and then surprise myself! I certainly never thought I'd be able to deadlift anything... Regular reviews help keep it interesting and Simon will often change things up depending on what I need that day or week. Going to SPFit is also about more than fitness, as I love seeing the rest of the #team and being inspired by their progress and their goals. My schedule can be unpredictable, and it would be really easy to skip my own exercise, but I'm always encouraged by Simon and the whole team to keep going and get through the door! More...

I first started at SPFit with the running club on Tuesdays, I was very nervous at first as I wasn’t confident in running and I didn’t think I would be able to keep up but I really shouldn’t have been worried at all! Everybody is so encouraging and with everyone running at different speeds I managed to keep up just fine. Simon then introduced me to Broga on Wednesday evenings, others had also mentioned it to me from the running club because it was a great way to relieve any tense muscles and stiffness you might have got from running. I wanted to invest further with my fitness so after a sit down with Simon he created an entire work out program for me based on my individual goals. I’m currently on 7/10 of 1-1 PT sessions and I can safely say it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I occasionally join the evening bootcamp which is great fun and the perfect way to burn some extra calories before the weekend. What can I say Simon is a legend! More...

I joined SPFit last year at the advanced age of 62. My motivation was to inprove core strength for long distance riding. I have joined the weekly Broga sessions and also a weekly personal training session. It has been utterly brilliant. At the start I could do very little but have very quickly got a lot stronger. Simon is an excellent teacher - he will push you to the maximum but it is done with a lot of encouragement and if you are prepared to put the work in then so will he and nothing is too much trouble. SP Fit Gym and PT in Sherborne offers a great environment to train and exercise in, with many opportunities to get involved in group training. The PT sessions have been great for me, and Simon has been motivational and professional in every session, helping me set goals to become stronger and to improve flexibility. Spfit - where to start. I firstly joined the running club. A weekly run every Tuesday evening, running with all abilities. Simon carefully plans the route each week allowing all the groups to start and finish at the same time running different distances using the out and back method. A friendly bunch of people who cheer and spur each other on throughout the run! Moving on to joining the gym i became a part of the team, I had my own personal program designed for me. Booking in online the gym will never have more than 4-6 people training at one time. We all help each other and Simon is always on hand if we have a querie on technique or offer advice. Friday night bootcamp is great session to go to. An Hour of hiit exercise with a group of no more than 8-10 people. Simon again carefully puts together a session of different stations to work and stregthen different areas of the body. A great workout and a few laughs along the way!The Saturday strengthening group, another excellent extra session is an hour and half of a intense workout. Using different workouts such as Fran, Elizabeth, Diane etc working in pairs, it is like a large group PT session. Followed by a beat the instructor session at the end, occasionally a fitness test to see how you have progressed. I would definately reccommend Spfit to anyone, it isnt like any other gym. You can only get out of it the effort what you put in! I really enjoying the weight lifting and am very pleased with how i have progressed in a short time. More...

Since I came to England I hadn't done any sport and wasn't feeling confident with myself. I joined SPFit with the goal of getting fitter and it has exceeded all of my expectations, Simon is so encouraging, motivating and passionate about his job and his attention to my developement. I do PTs, broga and bootcamps as well as following the program that Simon designed for me, all in all a varied week. I have also met wonderful people from all walks of life which makes SPFit so unique as nobody has an ego! I joined SPFit to get a bit fitter and lose some weight, Simon is fantastic, Very knowledgeable and he really does work out what makes you as an individual tick to be able to motivate you so you achieve the best results possible. Simon takes motivation to a whole new level, if it wasn’t for the motivation and interest in how I’m doing I probably wouldn’t want to go as much let alone join the extra classes I have joined. The running club is so friendly. The first time I turned up I saw others arrive and then went home again feeling I wouldn’t be good enough. I started Broga at SPFit in December and have since used the gym regularly and joined the running club. The gym is very well equipped and everyone is friendly and welcoming. It is the only gym I have ever been to where the weights area is not dominated by a few men hogging the weights. At SPFit, girls lift too!
Simon is an excellent trainer. He is very good at making sure that exercises are carried out absolutely correctly, to have maximum effect. He has endless patience and doesn't mind explaining everything over and over again - very useful if you are as forgetful as me! After one of the best goal setting sessions I have ever had with Simon, I now know exactly where I am going with my gym and running programme for the next year.

Years of doing it all wrong can be corrected in a matter of weeks by simply joining SPfit to train and learn. In the four months I have been training with Simon and his team, I am not just leaner, fitter and stronger, I have a far better understanding of how and when to train. I joined SPFIt at the beginning of December following a downward spiral of disillusionment at the gym I was a member of. I've taken part in the indoor and outdoor boot-camps as well as joining the running club...and I've totally got my motivation back. The sessions are carefully planned and cater for different abilities. The small group format is superb with a great feeling of inclusion. Just completed my first 'bootcamp' with Simon and other members and it was awesome.
The studio has a great atmosphere and your are encouraged to train just that little bit out of your comfort zone. From what I have seen so far Simon has a very dedicated group of 'trainees' which is expanding quickly.
Even at the very outset of my first conversation about my fitness the ethos of Simon and the studio was made very clear and it revolves around full body training. There is nothing static about the way Simon works!!

Q&As

We set short, medium and long term goals to cover strength, fitness and body shape. We then set deadlines for when we review each clients goals and design new workout programmes to cover a specific period. This ensures our clients constantly progress in terms of how much they lift, how many reps they do and how fast or far they go for example. Stronger, faster, better.

In one sentence: constant personal attention to ensure each client gets a specific service and advice which they want and need. Obviously everyone is different bu there is no secret panacea except hard work! And for that you need motivation and a motivator second to none.

I love working with a whole variety of different people with very different goals. There are so much to both learn and teach .

I wanted to help people and not be restricted by the corporate world. The results for both my clients and my business are down to me and nobody else.

Simple - We get results and we have fun doing it.
