About

Hello, and thank you for visiting my page.

My name is Bella. As a teacher for 20 years, I've learned that music can positively impact children's physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. I teach music to children of all ages and in my lessons, I particularly focus on teaching the guitar and ukulele.

I love the fact that the preschool sessions are recorded in different places: bus station, train station, woods, ponds, camping, etc. My little ones loved these sessions during lockdown when they couldn’t go anywhere. More...

Va urez mult succes si va uramresc cu interes in contionuare. More...

Recomand Sing Create Play tuturor copiilor. :) More...

Q&As

Teaching my classes and seeing the joy and experience they bring is reward enough for me, but one of the most beautiful experiences for me, that validates the work I do, is the amount of neurodiverse children who contact me to tell me how my classes have helped them. The most frequent messages I receive are those that tell me how the child has been able to ‘connect’ with music in ways they had been unable to before, because of the visual and kinaesthetic strategies I use.

I taught in public schools for 20 years and I saw every day how the standard National Curriculum doesn't apply to all children. Children like their learning to be tailored to their interests, and to their personal needs. So I decided to resign from teaching in schools and open my business where each child is taught the songs they are passionate about and the skills they will engage with using new, creative and interactive methods, instead of going with old, traditional ones. And I never looked back! I've never been happier and I've never seen so much gratitude from my students and also their parents!

My classes are a beautiful combination of music, exploration and play. Musical games, visual stimuli, age-appropriate songs all combine to help children to develop the skills they need to play their chosen instrument. The learning of the instrument almost feels like it evolves organically as they play games.

Research has revealed that there is a strong correlation between active music making and language development. Children that learn music more easily learn to recognise sounds in speech and grammar patterns of foreign languages. In early years, brain development includes recognition of patterns, rhythms and sounds, this skill supports the skills required in mathematics to deal with sequencing, ordering and classifying. Ultimately, children that have learned a musical instrument at a young age are more likely to achieve higher grades. As a result of my classes, they are also more likely to achieve healthier social interactions.

I provide lessons for young children at the start of their music journey, wanting to learn the ukulele or guitar as their first musical instrument. These lessons are packed with fun and engaging musical games. Typically, three-year-olds have a relatively short attention span and fine motor skills are still developing; I factor this into my planning and teaching so that each learner feels enthusiastic and engaged throughout the class.
Each session is carefully crafted to create an environment that won’t feel like a ‘lesson’. Utilising creativity as well as my experience as an early years teacher, the children will experience interactive, personalised and age-appropriate musical games, coincidentally, they will also be acquiring knowledge and techniques to be able to play their chosen instrument.

I teach 100% online only. I have developed my own curriculum, visual methods and slides and children are very successful learning how to play their instruments using my curriculum.

Services

I teach ukulele from the age of 3 years old.

My ‘Ukulele Story Time’ class is very popular. This is a class for three to seven-year-olds that is completely flexible and fun. The lessons are a mix of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning that is accessible to children with any learning style. I have carefully designed visual slides to accompany specially selected nursery rhymes or original rhymes that I have created; the lessons also include musical games. Children are engaged throughout the class with continuous opportunities to ask and answer questions, play rhythmic games, repeat and manipulate songs to explore different tones, pitch, rhythm and volume and of course, to play songs on their ukulele. This beginners class is interactive and immensely fun, for me and for the learners.

For children over 7 years old, I have developed a curriculum for three levels of ukulele, encompassing beginner to intermediate level. I never see my work as done, it is always a work in progress, and it is constantly changing and evolving to suit differing needs and situations. I have created a full year curriculum of songs. These songs are included in the beginners lessons and the ongoing intermediate lessons for children between seven and 13 years. In each lesson, I teach the chords and strumming for a specific song, learners come away from each class with a sense of achievement as they have learned a new song.

I teach guitar to children as young as 5 years old. I have created a guitar curriculum for children aged five to nine years. This may seem young for children to learn, and many teachers choose not to, but to me, this is a perfect age to introduce them to the skills and the joy that music can bring. There are proven links between learning music and developing phonological skills. I have many years’ experience as an early years teacher which has equipped me with a solid understanding of how to reach and engage children, as well as an understanding of their needs.

I have also designed and created a curriculum on 3 levels of guitar, starting from beginners, to intermediate and advanced players, for children aged 9 to 18 years old.
