My son is dyslexic and really struggles to pick things up but Simon and the other black belts have been brilliant with him. Since joining my daughter is now part of the Wadokai England squad and has also been part of the Ekf Midlands squad. We have travelled the world and made life long friends. Excellent school that looks after all ages and skill sets. My son has come on so much in confidence, general fitness and ambition. The classes have a range of fun to discipline. from basics to kata to sparing and close defense. The teachers and black belts are an absolute credit to the school and are always very respectful and helpful. I hope the school runs well into the future, my two year old will be starting next. My son started with The Simon Coope Karate School just over a year ago at the age of 5. Initially I had my concerns regarding the pressure of gradings and discipline. The classes are just the right balance of fun and seriousness for the children to make excellent progress and enjoy it. Simon, and the other sensai's encourage, build self esteem, discipline and most importantly teach respect to the environment being used for training, other people of both lower and higher grades and of themselves. In today's society teenagers get a bed reputation. In the karate school there are quite a few teenagers, black belts and below, and if my son turns out to be as kind and respectful as any of them I'll be very happy. More...

My Daughter and i joined Simon Coope Karate School - Midland Karate at the start of January 2017. We attend both the Ashby-De-La-Zouch class at Hood Park Leisure Centre and the Hinckley class at Holy Trinity Church Hall. Everyone we have met has welcomed us to the club and made us feel part of something. We were both a little apprehensive about joining a Karate school but it has turned out to be brilliant. My Daughter's confidence is hugely improved already and we are both enjoying the sport together which is great for us both. The instructors cater to both children and adults and coach all levels from absolute beginners like us through to Black Belt's and above.
