Sarah hosted a very special knicker-making event for our friend's hen party in Brighton this November. She was a great sewing teacher and an even better hostess - the homemade cream tea was delicious. Thank you ❤️

Gina is the only one I will go to for any alterations. Her quality is amazing and I know the garments are going to stay strong.

Sarah is quite simply the best sewing teacher in the world. She's endlessly enthusiastic and supportive, has a huge range of inspiring ideas and patterns, and, last, but not least, makes great cakes.

We were a hen party of 9 and we all absolutely loved making our knickers. As all sewing novices, Sarah had the patience of a saint walking around and helping us all.
We all walked away with a new pair of knickers and smiles on our faces. A brilliant way to spend the afternoon, a good giggle and healthy competition :-). Would definitely recommend.
Thanks Sarah

Sarah is a great teacher with a lot of patience. She has a vast selection of sewing books and patterns which all her students are allowed to use. Sew Retro seem to be the cheapest classes in Brighton. She makes the best cakes too. I recommend her classes to all my friends, they are fun and friendly too! More...

I came to Sarah's class with a modicum of dressmaking experience but lacking ability to give garments a professional finish and lacking motivation and confidence. The classes have helped me to make great strides forward and this is largely due to the friendly and knowledgeable atmosphere which Sarah has succeeded in creating and to her attentiveness to each and every participant. Classes are very reasonably priced, fun and friendly. A bonus is the steady supply of tea, coffee and delicious home-made cake. Its been great fun meeting new people and developing new skills as well as new friendships. A really enjoyable class and I can't recommend too highly.Jane S.Hove. More...

I've been going to Sew Retro every week for almost 4 years. It's the highlight of my week. I started as a complete novice, never having touched a sewing machine before. Sarah is an amazing, lovely, patient teacher. Always positive, Sarah encouraged me to sew, no matter how difficult I perceived a project. Her step-by-step guidance and a finished item have built my confidence over the last few years, and I have some fabulous new clothing as well. It's also a great chance to have a cup of tea, one of Sarah's amazing baking creations and a chat to other lovely people who have come to sew. I would highly recommend Sew Retro to anyone no matter what ability level. A complete beginner can learn to sew, but also an experienced sewist can get guidance and inspiration. More...

Just found out you have an important meeting or job interview tomorrow and your only suit no longer fits? Relax, you can get your clothes altered the same day at Sew Retro! A one-woman business, Sew Retro offer a wealth of services of sewing services from clothes alterations, mending and fitting to dry cleaning. The owner is friendly and professional and prices are reasonable with turn ups and hems costing around £5, tapered legs £6, new half pockets £3 and dart busts £4.My only dilemma, is I'm not sure where the Retro part comes into Sew Retro. Maybe that's the dart busts and shoulder straps.... More...
