How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
If you can stand with at least a foot clearance over your head under the highest point within your loft, then there's a good chance a loft conversion is possible. The most critical consideration for a loft conversion is access - where will the stair start and finish whilst complying with building regulations?
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Visit your house to assess the existing layout, construction materials, critical dimensions but most importantly, your ambitions for the outcome. A preliminary design stage will ensure feasibility and a coherent brief to progress the design and specification to planning (or permitted development certification) application. Once consented/approved the detailed construction specification can start to be refined for technical/structural design, party wall notices, preliminary costing and construction safety. This stage is usually an iterative process over a few months to refine the detailed design specification aiming to deliver what you want within the constraints of planning, functionality and budget. This detailed preparation gives the best chance for the project to run smoothly, safely and achieve best value for money.
