This is an alternative to nursing home. We provide live in care services in Oxfordshire and nationally. A private bedroom must be available for the carer.
As we become older, many of us wish to remain as independent as possible whilst staying in our own home, amongst familiar surroundings. Our helpful friendly carer help you live how you wish. We use Person-Centred Active Support approach to make a tailor-made care plan to fit in with your preferences and would be reviewed frequently and therefore be flexible and bespoke. At Ringstead we use Person-Centered Active Support approach to make a tailor-made care plan to fit in your preferences and would be reviewed frequently and therefore will be flexible and bespoke. A safety check of your home is an essential part of the care plan, ensuring safety in your own environment with a planned routine on a regular basis.
A change in routine and/or moving home can be very upsetting and daunting to someone living with this condition. Ideally, they need to be in their own environment with the people they know.
There are many challenges that dementia and memory loss cause. By eliminating a few of these challenges makes life far easier for those suffering from dementia.

It can be very distressing to see how a terminal illness affects a loved one. Ringstead can help by providing specialist support with the day-to-day things so your family can make the most of your time together. A Person-Centred Active Support approach is used to make a tailor-made care plan to fit in your preferences and would be reviewed frequently and therefore will be flexible, bespoke and will be fully discussed and agreed with you. Having palliative care at home means your family member or friend can remain in the place they feel most comfortable, surrounded by their memories and the people they love. With the one-to-one support of a compassionate carer, who is experienced in palliative care, they will have specialist support whenever they need it.
One of the main benefits of palliative care at home is that it allows somebody to pass away peacefully in their own home, with someone they know and trust nearby. As well as being reassuring for the person receiving care, knowing this can give peace of mind to families and close friends too.
It is usually easier for friends and family to visit at a person’s home. Round-the-clock care also means that any changes in condition will be noticed and responded to quickly. Family members can carry on with their lives, knowing they will be notified of any developments.

Whether you are looking for a full-time live-in carer or a carer for those times when you need some extra help, Ringstead can provide the full range of care services for palliative and end-of-life care. For personal care, overseeing medication, cooking meals or sharing memories over a cup of tea, our support covers whatever you need.

It may be that there has been an accident or an unexpected discharge from hospital. If this happens, please contact Ringstead and see how we can help you.
If you or a loved one has been discharged from hospital but feel that help is still needed, then one of our friendly, helpful carers can make everything seem easier to cope with. Perhaps, the hospital will not allow you home unless there is help at home. If this is the case, then please give us a call. A hospital stay can be a difficult time for both you and those close to you. No one likes to stay in hospital and always hopes the visit will be as short as possible. Ringstead can help by providing care at home when you are discharged.

The type of help needed when you are discharged will depend on why you were in hospital. Ringstead can help with the following but if you have other needs please ask:

Bathing
Dressing
Eating (are there diet restrictions, e.g., soft foods only? Certain foods not allowed?)
Personal hygiene
Grooming
Toileting
Transfer (moving from bed to chair)
Mobility (includes walking)
Using certain special equipment
Co-ordinating and overseeing medication
Household chores
As with all our services, A Person-Centred Active Support approach is used to make a specialised tailor-made care plan to fit in your preferences and would be reviewed frequently and therefore will be flexible, bespoke and will be fully discussed and agreed with you. The care plan will be regularly checked and adapted to your health progress at home.

As everyone is different and has unique needs, your overnight care will be assessed and agreed in a care plan, similar to a daytime care plan. Tell us what is required and we will do our best to supply the solution to make you have a comfortable night. By giving support when it is needed, your family and loved ones will have the reassurance that you are in safe and capable hands. The main reasons for having overnight care are:

Support with administering medication through the night
Assisting with toilet breaks
Help with moving in bed, for example, changing positions to prevent bedsores
Help with complex needs
Someone on hand if necessary
Peace of mind for loved ones
Please contact us so that we can help with your needs. There are different options that are available. The main ones are: Overnight Sleep-over where the carer stays in your home and is there if you need support. They can support you up to two times a night.
A Waking Night can be arranged when more care is needed every night. With this, the carer is on duty throughout the night.
By having support from a fully trained carer through the night, you and your family can have a more comfortable and enjoyable sleep.

Some people wish to have someone to share an interest with, to visit them or help with the shopping for example. Some people do not receive regular visitors but would like to. Some feel safer if someone calls to say ‘hello’ and sees if everything is all right. If you feel that you would like a regular visitor to sit with you, have a chat or help you with a hobby or interest, please let us know as we can help. One of our carers will come, sit with you and spend quality time with you. They will become a familiar trusted friendly face to help and share in your interests and offer companionship.

Also, if family members cannot always be with you and worry about leaving you alone, Ringstead carers can visit when they go out. By having someone who calls when expected, people feel happier and have something to look forward to. Sharing a hobby or having a friendly chat can make someone’s day special.

If you would like someone to help with:

Enjoying a chat over a cup of tea
Company and help while doing crafts or hobbies
Playing cards, chess, draughts or similar
Coping with tradesmen or how to operate certain equipment
It’s your choice how much and what kind of companionship support you have and how often you want it. The above are only examples – please ask us about your personal needs.

By having support from a fully trained carer through the night, you and your family can have a more comfortable and enjoyable sleep.

Ringstead can help or prepare the whole meal required if necessary. Individual dietary needs will be taken into consideration when planning a meal as will different food likes and dislikes. All our carers have training on food hygiene and preparation so that the service users will enjoy their meals.

Many people forget to eat. Sometimes they cannot cope with the food preparation or find cooking too difficult. Often the easy option is taken of choosing unhealthy snacks, biscuits or chocolates. Eating healthy food is essential to maintain or improve everyone’s health. Regular, balanced and well-cooked meals are an important part of the company’s ethos.

Sadly, many older people or those who need help to look after themselves are unable to shop or cook the desired foods. There are several ways that Ringstead can help with food and meals preparation. These can include:

-Creating shopping lists
-Buying ingredients for customers
-Occasional or all meal preparation
-Cooking for older people
-Washing dishes
-Finding easy meals for older people to prepare
Please contact Ringstead if you think you or your relative is not eating properly or having problems with preparing meals and needs help. We are here to solve the problem and get everyone enjoying eating healthily and well.

Ringstead provide helpful, friendly service for you to have a shining and spotless home to live in. We support with everyday chores that have become difficult to finish to give you time to relax and enjoy life.

Our carers are reliable and trustworthy. All our carers are DBS and reference checked before they can start work and training. The training is done in our in-house by specially selected staff. This means that you do not need to worry about having them in your house. Besides helping with medical and personal care, our carers can help you load your washing machine, do the ironing for you or even hand-wash small items that cannot be put in a washing machine. A carer will even water and look after your indoor plants.

We can help your family by sharing the workload of keeping your house nice. If work needs to be done and your family prefer to spend quality time with you rather than rush around with a duster, let us know. We are here to help you enjoy living in your home.

This can be both distressing and annoying for them, especially if buying food is a necessity. Part of the reason to live at home and to be as independent as possible is to have the option or help to decide which food should be on the menu. There is nothing worse than being presented with a badly cooked meal made with ingredients that the person does not like. Ringstead supports and helps Individuals to decide which food they wish to eat and to help them purchase the shopping if wished as well as cooking the food purchased.

Sadly, many older people or those who need help to look after themselves are unable to shop or cook the desired foods. Therefore, we offer a personal shopping service as well as cooking meals. It is not only with supermarket/food shopping that help can be given. Prescriptions can be collected or letters and parcels posted for example. There are several ways that help can be given with regards to shopping. The carer can accompany the client to the shops and help them do the shopping. This is the best option if possible as it enables the service user to be more hands on and also gets them out of the home environment.

Another way is that a shopping list can be made and the carer goes alone to the shops. Service users can also take advantage of the various home delivery services offered by some companies. These companies sell a vast array of items including food and clothes as well as household items and can be ordered over the telephone or on the internet. By helping service users to decide and order items, as well as being there when deliveries are made, carers can help make the buying of goods and presents so much easier.

It can be very distressing for the elderly to have appointments outside their homes. They can worry about how to find the right clinic in a large hospital or how they can get to the building where the appointment is to take place.

We can support with making the appointment or confirming it. If no family members can accompany the service user, we can arrange for a carer to do this as well. If necessary, the carer can accompany the client into the consultation.

As all our carers are DBS and referenced checked, they can help you get out and about, either on public transport or in a car, accompanying you or a loved one where they wish to go.

We can also support with appointments in the home. This is usually when utility providers or workmen need to have a scheduled visit to mend or service an item such as a boiler. It is worrying for a client to let an unknown person into their home even if there is an appointment for the work to be done. A carer can be there to help with letting the person in and make sure that the work is done correctly.

We take note of the things you like to do and when you like to do them. This could include outings to the theatre or a local club for example. Life does not end just because you need help to live in your own home.

By providing the right sort of support, we can support you live life to the full. By arranging to have a carer hourly, you can organise your life how you wish.

All our carers are DBS checked, referenced and expertly trained. We try to match your carer with your interests so that you can both enjoy outings and activities together hourly.
