Barton is a lovely old airfield with some quite notable art deco architecture around the hangers and the control tower (which I understand to be the oldest operational control tower in the country - don't quote me on that though) With a decent cafe and a nice relaxed old-fashioned atmosphere, it's certainly somewhere that would be of interest to any aviation enthusiast, including the rotary wing gang, as there is a heliport at the airfield. As such, you never know what may arrive next, from a DeHaviland Rapide to a military Lynx or some kind of fancy Airwolf looking thing. If you're in the area, pop in! More...

Car boot was okay, more like a market in terms of the things you can find there, a lot of stuff from China and TikTok shop, not many old fashioned second hand stuff which is what I look for in a car boot.

What a great little airport. If you like to watch small planes and helicopters then this is the place to come. The parking is free and they have a lovely cafe /bar to eat and drink, with outside seating to watch the aircraft. Throughout the year they hold various different events, I'm going to join the car boot sale for the first time this year, music festivals, fairground etc. They regularly refuel military helicopters, such as the chinook and merlin, quite the spectacle. Deserted! Only two helicopters present. Whatever happened to the row after row of parked light aircraft? All gone! The Sopwith cafe was open though and that was as good as ever.

Great place to visit to watch small general aviation aircraft movements, especially if the weather is nice, also a very nice cafe with great selection of cakes and a bar with inside and outside seats with the added bonus of very friendly Staff, well worth a try because occasionally they hold things like car boot sales.
