I hired the upstairs venue for a surprise party for my partners 40th birthday. What a great venue, it was perfect for the party size we had, about 35 people. It was intimate and a great vibe. We had a bar in the smaller room with space to dance, and the other room was used for socialising. The bar lady Rachael was absolutely amazing, she was so lively behind the bar that she added exuberance. Would highly recommend asking for her to run the bar for your parties. The rest of the staff were really friendly and helpful throughout the organisation and couldn't do enough for you. We had a load of pizzas and some tapas dishes for everyone and it was so tasty and great value for money. Everyone loved it and commented how lovely the food was. Thank you everyone for making the party a huge success and stress free for me. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a venue. Perfect in everway. I have just hosted an event for my business at the Princess Alexandra, using both the ‘snug’ and the rooms upstairs. The venue is amazing, so lovely and quirky. All of my guests loved it. I cannot thank the whole team enough for helping me on the day! They went above and beyond my expectations providing excellent service regarding amazing food and drink as well as their manner by being so friendly, helpful and polite. What a wonderful evening we had on Saturday. My husband hired the upstairs function room for my 40th birthday. We can not fault the service and attention we received from the staff. All our friends commented on how impressed they were with the venue. It's quite a small room - perfect for the 40 guests we had and cosy enough that everyone could mingle. Had a lovely gluten free pizza - thank you. Obviously a hand made base, beautifully cooked so it is crispy in the pizza oven, with a choice of toppings. Had our first ever visit today and what can I say? It was wonderful x the pub is fascinating with loads of small touches that you cant help but have a look at x the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly and welcoming x the 10% discount for NHS Staff is another small reason that this place is well worth a visit x highly recommend x

Hosted my husbands surprise 30th birthday party here on Saturday in the private room upstairs and had the best time. I had an absolute nightmare trying to book my 40th birthday party into a pub in Northampton.
All I wanted was a nice venue, good beers, friendly staff and somewhere for my mate to DJ a few tunes. Even with 5 months notice, not one of a dozen venues I approached could be bothered to help.
A good thing, as it turns out.
Thank heavens I stumbled across The Princess Alexandra. Slightly off the beaten track in town, but it turned out to tick all my boxes...and a few more, too.
Not only did I get the booking with no hassle, but the staff were fantastic and accommodating on the night, the craft beers and ales as well the Rose wines went down a treat with my friends and the food (pizzas and curries were ordered) were delicious and very affordable for pub grub.
And my good pal Chris Fidler, from The Shindig DJs UK was able to do the finest disk spinning in the county! (You can find them on Facebook under that name).
