Ex Kidsgrove lad, I have fond memories of the early 1950s of warm out cakes from the oatcake shop in Butlane, watching as the baker flipped them over on the hot bake stone- the smell was wonderful and then quickly home with the precious hot package of oatcakes wrapped in news paper.

Living in deepest Kent for the last 40 years oatcakes are unheard of-so I used to make my own-until I discovered POVEY'S.

Fantastic taste, excellent delivery service, I now have a regular circle of friends and neighbours who cannot wait for my regular order.

Well done, a regular reminder of my wonderful North Staffordshire homeland. More...

Brilliant service! I have always lived "down south" but my Dad came from Tunstall and used to wax lyrical about his memories of Sunday morning oatcakes. Every so often he would make a batch himself as there was no other way of getting hold of them in those days. We loved them, but making them was a very time-consuming business not to be undertaken lightly! So more recently I was delighted to find Poveys Oatcakes and now keep my freezer stocked at all times. Just ordered another batch of 5 dozen wonderful oatcakes which we all love! Unavailable around Cheltenham where no-one's heard of them, it's so good to be able to order online and put them straight in the freezer when they arrive, apart from one dozen of course which tend to vanish very quickly.

I have lived on the Fylde coast (5 miles from Blackpool) for 48 years but do so miss my boyhood oatcakes from Hartshill, Stoke-On-Trent where I lived until age 18. Povey's oatcakes & pikelets fill that gap for me and I slowly encourage my wife to eat the odd one (she's a sand grown'n so doesn't fully share my taste yet). Not to worry - I eat 'm all anyway !. Thankyou for posting my oatcake order to Southport, the oatcakes were wonderfully thin and the fruit pikelets which we had never tried before were yummy covered in peanut butter and sliced banana, I had mine warm with butter and strawberry conserve dripping of them soooo good so what we didnt eat have gone into the freezer.

Absolutely delicious. As an ex-pat pottery lad now living in London, I have a yearning for good old Staffordshire Oatcakes. I know a shop in Borough Market and Neal's Yard that sells them, but they sell out quickly and it is a hassle travelling into central London to buy them. So, this year I began buying online. I ordered some from a previous supplier and wasn't impressed, But then I found Poveys' and ordered from them. The Oatcakes arrived bang on time, one day after ordering, and, they are the best I have tasted since leaving Wolstanton in 1977. Their consistency is just right, they have a great flavour, and they genuinely bring back childhood memories of going to the oatcake shop on Sunday mornings and coming home with them warm to mop up the bacon and eggs with! If you are looking to buy oatcakes online and want the authentic flavour with extremely speedy service I cannot recommend Povey's highly enough. More...

Often use Povey's for delivery. Good quality oatcake. Savoury and sweet fillings and a weekend favourite. Thank you Alex and team. One issue on our most recent delivery through DPD was the delivery arrived a day late (Thursday evening) despite being local to home and being in DPD depot on due agreed delivery date (Wednesday). This is not a complaint of Povey's as they dispatched on his agreed date. Also delivery bag was way too big for the contents so they moved around too much in transit. Will always use Povey's for delivery if we are not visiting SoT. Their 5 dozen deal is great value. More...

Oatcakes are difficult to get on the East Coast. We tried the Supermarket ones and used 'em to patch my leather jacket. Poveys are a life saver withtheir Oatcakes & Pikelets and may they ever be so. Thanks a Million.
