How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
The most common way to determine suitability is to have a look around your street and the neighbouring properties for similar conversions. There is a greater likelihood of getting approval when similar works have been carried out in the area.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
STEP 1 - INTRODUCTION
Once You Get in touch with us. We will discuss the details of your project then provide you with a quote/estimate.
STEP 2 – TAKE ON PROJECT
Soon as you are ready and happy with our quote, we will pick a mutually convenient time for a measurement survey at your property.
STEP 3 – DESIGN BRIEF
At this stage you can tell us any specific details you would like incorporated into the design before we start drawing. All aspects of your development will be discussed in detail and agreed upon (i.e. room layout, size of extension, time scale, build cost etc.)
STEP 4 – DRAFT VERSION COMPLETED
We will then produce ALL the CAD drawings required to support the planning application (i.e. 2D layouts of the existing and proposed floor plans, elevations and sections). You get a draft version and we await approval from you.
If you have any requests for minor alterations before we submit, this is your window of opportunity to ensure the final drawings meet the brief we discussed in the beginning.
STEP 5 – FINAL DRAWINGS
Once Drawings are completed (usually within 2 weeks), and you are happy, we then take the payment in full & move on to submission to your Local Authority’s Planning Department.
STEP 6 – APPLICATION SUBMISSION
Next stage is completing the online application form and submitting final drawings to the Planning Department. A fee will be requested by the Planning Department.
STEP 7 – LIAISING WITH COUNCIL UNTIL DECISION IS MADE
We will then keep track of your application and liaise with the local authorities on your behalf acting as your agent throughout the assessment process, in providing any additional information that is required to ensure your application is successful.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
The majority of loft conversions are covered by Permitted Development rights, which give permission for any building works which fall within a set of conditions determined by volumes and design.
