Web Development

Michael has been absolutely excellent. We thought we needed a full website build but after speaking with him we realised we had a fair bit of work to do before getting to this stage. He could have easily built a website for us that we didn’t need just yet and sent us on our way but instead he was honest in what we needed to work on to get our marketplace going. Michael has become a mentor to us guiding us through the lean startup process and we couldn’t be more grateful! We are excited to continue working with him on our marketplace in the future. More...

Q&As

There is a lot of opportunities emerging with the development of the 'no code' movement, and there is a lot of continuous learning.

I am also learning a lot of tactics around growth and digital marketing, and I am able to bring some of this thinking into how I build websites and software for clients.

I like the creative freedom and solving complex problems for others, and the speed you can now do this in the web.
I also love creating and launching digital products (I have founded and still own a small software business)
I am a fully qualified architect (qualified in 2000) and whilst I left the architectural profession to pursue a career in web, innovation and technology, I bring a wide range of experience plus creative, technical and procedural skills to solve client problems and delight them with my solutions.

I am a highly experienced and motivated professional that always aims to do good work.
I really want to understand the project, the business and the challenge for the website or software, so I can build the best site for the stage the business/project or organisation is at.
My qualifications across design and technology, and even my earlier architectural career mean I can bring a range of skills and fresh thinking to solve problems for my clients.

I am new to the Bark platform (December 2021) , but I have examples of my work from businesses I have started, and for instance have just launched some large community choir websites (there's a link to one below) which have been completely re-engineered to help the business grow, and they are so delighted, I'm helping them expand their business over the next 6 months.

Plus I can offer client references.

Depending on the size of project and budget, I offer choices to contract either my freelancer services where I can keep prices competitive, or my digital innovation company Personarc Ltd - which carries Professional Indemnity insurance and further contracts specialists where required.

I am 100% remote, but used to a range of communication methods, including synchronous and asynchronous methods.

I would work around what works best for the Client. Communications is generally so easy these days, and designing and building websites are ideally suited to various remote working communication channels.

I work with Zoom, Loom videos, Typeform for data collection, and can review in Figma and developed sites in Webflow.

I'm triple jabbed - if on site meetings were ever required, I would follow any requirements laid out by the Client, and I would also make my own risk assessments as any professional would.

Services

I can work on a website design for you and transfer a Design only deliverable.

The design will include:

1.The basic architecture (the why of the site) including customer journeys.
2.The wireframe of the modules that support the customer's journey through the site
3. The visual design that looks like the final website.

This does not include brand logo, webcopy, and all assets will be dummy placeholders or those supplied by the client. All design information will be handed over to the client ownership.

I develop sites in Webflow, which is a fast growing no-code web platform.

I choose Webflow because it uniquely makes it possible to develop powerful custom websites with a back end CMS that acts as a database and allows the websites to be closely modelled to the business it serves.

The hosted sites are fast secure and good for SEO.
The clients also have an easy editor to edit static pages and add to their CMS collections.

If you own a small business, and you recognise the importance of your website, every now and again changes or tweaks to your website to respond to the market opportunities, or to optimise conversions on landing pages become inevitable. You can do most of these in a good website editor, but sometimes the changes you need to make are baked into the design.

But you may not wish to pay a web developer or agency to constant make these small changes each time.

So why not do it yourself, or have someone on your team to do it?

The truth is, with no code tools such as Webflow, it is now possible for anyone to learn to develop custom websites - but it does take some time and commitment.

If I have built you a website, I will have likely built it in Webflow or a similar no code web development tool. So I will able be able to train you as my clients in how the sites are built. This is an option offered to Website Development project clients.

I help early stage entrepreneurs with building out their MVP, starting with a one page website, customer /user surveys and strategy sessions of to plan on how to get their first 100 users. My job is to ensure that the entrepreneurs spend the money where it matters, and learn how to build, measure and learn as they progress their idea. This is by far the fastest and most cost effective way of making progress when you are starting from scratch.

I work with a range of no code and low code technologies to help entrepreneurs, small business owners and large project teams to automate processes, create customer portals, marketplaces, client training portals, business process automation software and back-office databases.

I take a structured approach, working with users to understand exacting requirements, iterate with lean prototypes before completing and handing over the final product.

I can also train the client or their team in how to extend and maintain the software themselves.
