I have worked for Nokia, Kodak, Unilever, Shell and HMRC (amongst other Blue Chip companies) setting up and maintaining servers and workstations but nowadays it's much more fun to meet people and fix stuff for them.

What do you love most about your job?
The resolution of a challenging problem gives a real buzz! I also really enjoy meeting people.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to provide a better service, and the best way to do that is to care for your customers personally. Many companies are most interested in profits, not service, which I think is appalling.

We provide remote access support. Providing that you still have internet access we can guide you through setting up a remote session where we control your keyboard and mouse and can fix many problems.
Please be aware that scammers can damage your computer by remote access, so NEVER allow anyone to access your computer in this way until you are completely satisfied that they are genuine professionals.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We make more use of remote access to eliminate the risk of infection. When visiting a client, we wear face masks when appropriate, and we decline to visit any client who is self-isolating, or has Covid symptoms.

I come to you, and fix the fault in your home where that's possible.

I fix any connectivity problems that are inside your home, and help you if the problem lies with your broadband provider
Remove viruses and malware
I can remove viruses and malware. There is a fixed charge of £50 if I can complete this work in your home, and £75 if it is so serious that I have to 'borrow' the computer for a couple of days. You should be aware that with 'Ransomware' it's unlikely that data can be recovered. Always keep a data backup on a memory stick or external hard drive!
Fix email connection problems
This can be because you have forgotten the email password or because you can't send or receive. Either way, I can fix it.
Clean computers that have been hacked
Nowadays, with so many scammers and fraudsters about, life is getting tougher. I clean computers that have been hacked, restore user names and update passwords where they have been changed. Usually this is a workshop job which can be done in a couple of days.
Upgrade computers
I improve any part of the computer that is cost effective. Changing the hard disc to an electronic disc can transform the machine's performance, and usually makes the computer faster than it was originally. Memory upgrades can also reduce bottlenecks (note that for Windows 11 the minimum memory size is 4GB and you must have TPM2.0 or higher security).
Install peripherals like printers or webcams
Got a new wireless printer and can't get it to connect to your router? I can fix this with a house call for £50. This can also happen if you change your router for any reason.
Write database software in Visual Studio
We have been writing standard and bespoke desktop software for SMEs and universities for more than 15 years now. Generally databases are in Access or SQL Server format. Our expertise is in Microsoft based client/server or desktop/laptop computer software. We don't write software for Macs or for web-based applications currently.
We now have a comprehensive library of routines that cover automatic program updates from the web, sending SMS texts, adding new client records and displaying existing ones, generating quotes and invoices, reading and writing documents to/from hard disc, and folder and file operations. And more...
