What do you love most about your job?
I love the satisfaction I feel when I am able to help someone with their Family History Research. Whether it is finding that missing part of a 'puzzle' or simply giving someone more confidence to progress with their own research. Finding answers to long standing questions or opening to view further generations by finding those elusive records and sources.
It is very rewarding and something I love to do!
What inspired you to start your own business?
For many years my work has been focused around my own research and that of family and friends. I have taken peoples positive comments and encouragement as inspiration to first, develop my skills and now share them and my passion with others. Past Tense is ready to help as many people as possible and I hope my love of family history research becomes evident as I communicate with you.

Past Tense courses are all conducted remotely via Zoom
Clients will be shown how to set up their own FREE online family history research accounts and then over the course of 6 sessions shown how to use those accounts to achieve their own research goals.
All resources are sent to clients online via email.
For those wanting Past Tense to undertake the research for them this will be conducted remotely with full research reports and completed family tree being provided via email.
Online Course
My Past Tense short course consists of 6 x approx 90 minute online sessions which will give you the knowledge and tools you need to research your own Family Tree to 4 generations.
How will it work?
Initial FREE consultation lasting 15-30 minutes taking place over the telephone. Together we will explore what you want to achieve and how we can help you do that. We will establish what information or records you already have and if you decide to proceed with the short course we can decide how that information can be shared prior to our first session.

Leave It To Past Tense
This leaves all the work and research to Past Tense!
We will start with a FREE initial consultation over the telephone. This will last 15-30 minutes, during this time we will discuss the creation of your 4-generation family tree. Starting from and building on your own knowledge and memories, Past Tense will use the skills gained over more than a decade to build your tree to include your great-grandparents.
Upon completion you will be sent:
A complete report showing steps taken to achieve this and copies of records that were used as verification.
Printed A4 copy of your 4-generation Family Tree
You may also wish to have Past Tense continue to build your tree to 5, 6 or 7 generations. Perhaps you would like to research just one line or a particular family name. Or perhaps you would like to have family groups created so that spouses, children or siblings are added to the names already found........... the possibilities are endless!

Reverse Family Tree
Complete tree with 'descendants' view. An ideal gift for proud grandparents.
This is a 'unique' Reverse Genealogy service where Past Tense can create the perfect gift for much loved grandparents. A beautiful keepsake presented with photographs, names and dates of birth.
During a FREE initial consultation you can choose which option you would like.
Descendants only - this will show your chosen family member at the root with their children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren branching out from them.
Hybrid - this will show your chosen family member at the centre of the tree with 2 generations of ancestors i.e. parents and grandparents plus 3 generations of descendants children to great-grandchildren. Totalling 6 generations in all!
