We have always been very pleased with the carers provided by Oxford Aunts and in particular the one who has been here to look after my husband over the past year. It has been possible for me to go away for a few days knowing that my husband is being very well cared for. If I have stayed at home while the carer has been here I have allowed her to take full responsibility for the care and making of meals. A real break for me as a full-time unpaid carer. I would thoroughly recommend Oxford Aunts to anyone needing professional and caring support. More...

Oxford Aunts provides a thorough and compassionate approach to live-in care. My mother's particular needs were carefully assessed to determine carers suited to her situation. Every carer was experienced and capable, and the team at OA helpful and proactive. I am happy to recommend Oxford Aunts to anyone in need of reliable live-in care provision. More...

Oxford Aunts were superb in their calm, clear and patient communication with me when I was needing to get my father back home quickly from respite care. They always called me back, answered my concerns quickly, (often out of hours) and gave me realistic expectations of time scales.
The Carer now looking after my father is fantastic! He is extremely experienced, compassionate, courteous and adaptable, and works with all the family to ensure Dad is happy and well.

Oxford Aunts are an excellent care provider. My aunt required live-in care and from my first contact everything was and continues to be handled professionally. My aunt’s live-in carer, Olga, is a gem. She is one of the most caring individuals who goes above and beyond to help my aunt feel settled and cared for. To have peace of mind that your loved one is being cared for whilst you are not there is invaluable. If Olga is an example of the carers employed by Oxford Aunts then you need not look any further. I cannot recommend them highly enough. More...

We needed help and advice on choosing a live in carer for our 95 year old mother and respect her wishes to remain in her own home. Oxford Aunts were extremely helpful and reassuring. As a result my mother now has a really lovely carer from Oxford Aunts who is full of life and warmth. Her caring skills are brilliant and our mother is in the best possible hands. Thank you. More...

My 96 year-old mother has had a live-in Oxford Aunts carer for 2 months now, and while she has had to get used to the idea of having someone around all the time, the difference it's made to her quality of life is huge. The carer took on board the things that matter to my mother and makes sure she deals with them, while taking charge of medical appointments, hearing aid difficulties and generally looking after my mother with tact and consideration.

I visit my mother 2-3 times a week but am away sometimes for a couple of weeks at a time, and knowing she is safe and cared for is an enormous relief. Up till now she had different carers popping in 3 times a day but in between there was plenty of times for things to happen eg falls, and it became clear that either my mother would need to go into a home (which she resists strongly) or have someone there all the time to ensure her safety and well being. The fact that the carer can drive is a bonus - she's been able to take my mother out for visits to places she loves, like the local garden centre, which hasn't happened for years!

I thought that having a live in carer would make life much easier for me and for my parent, but I have found that you still need to be in touch with the carer just about every day to check that things are done, but also to reassure and advise them.
My parent has a live in carer from Oxford Aunts for around 11 months now. On the whole the carers have been good, and we have been happy. However there have been times when carers have been 'changed out' with no reason given or a 2 week carer holiday has become a 4 week holiday. The level of support from the central team and your allocated care manager is really very varied and we have been very disappointed and felt very let down or messed around at times. Unfortunately this also affected my parent's care. On this occasion another highly skilled member of staff stepped in and sorted out the poor management. It was only then that I realised how let down we had been before and what good service looked like. However we never received and written acknowledgement of the poor performance or any kind of apology which I think we deserved.
The level of skill and experience of the carers is very varied and the profiles you receive to choose them are fairly generic. I think this could be made clearer. Certainly the level of cooking and food preparation skills has been poor, with nearly all of the carers that we have had preferring to heat up ready made food. This has been disappointing. Some nutritional and cooking training might help.
At the end of the day it's a business and certainly better than the previous company that we had used, but without weekly visits and daily telephone calls and prompts, things would definitely be missed.

Oxford Aunts has provided a live-in carer for my mother on several occasions over the last 2 years when I have gone away on holiday, for periods of up to 2 weeks at a time. We have had a different carer each time and they have all been exceptional. Perhaps most importantly, my mother, who is 95 with very limited mobility and dementia, has quickly taken a liking to each of the Aunts in turn and they have got on very well together, with humour and companionship. The Aunts were extremely professional, patient and kind and were happy to keep in touch with me while I was away by WhatsApp, which I found very reassuring. I found them all to be trustworthy, conscientious and reliable and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oxford Aunts to others. More...

The live-in carer we have for my elderly father is excellent. She is attentive, caring and very considerate towards my father's specific needs. She has been caring for my father for 20 months continuously.
I have had concerns/issues with Oxford Aunts in terms of numerous accounting errors (which were eventually resolved) and also with the lack of updated contact information when members of the team have left. However, this seems to have all been resolved in recent weeks.

A very professional team. This is the third provider of home care I have used for my mother in the last 5 years, and they are streets ahead. They were patient with me, understand the inevitable hurdles with my elderly Mum, were most professional in their engagement and assessment, and have provided a gold star carer. My mother Alison wanted to stay in her own home as long as possible, in the early stages of dementia, so she could carry on her local activities such as playing the piano with friends and going to church. Not least, during lockdowns wasn't a great time to go to a home, we thought. We asked Oxford Aunts to provide a live-in carer. They were brilliant throughout the process. The carer couldn't have worked harder to keep mum happy. The managers were great at assessing mum's needs, finding the best carer for her, and supporting us and the carer throughout. They were also proactive in advising on what mum needed, including when was best for her to move on to a home. Their advice was spot-on, and she's happily settled in a home now. We're hugely grateful that the Oxford Aunts team got mum through the really tricky lockdown period with friendship and care. More...

Q&As

I work in a field I genuinely care about, doing a job where I can make a difference, for a company that is ethical and not only values me but also genuinely cares about me and all of my colleagues and our clients. What's not to love!?

You would have to ask our founder of 55 years ago that question! She is no longer with the company. Her dreams for the company are still with us and we have held on to her values and have even expanded on them.

Because:
We are an established live-in care specialist - started in 1967.
We are experts in the care of conditions.
We have experienced and dedicated carers.
We deliver exceptional service and quality of care.
We are determined to lead at every level.
We are always there, for our staff, our clients and our clients families.
Community matters to us. We work with our local communities to ensure we have great links to great services and to knowledge and experience that might help our clients and help to keep them connected with their community.
We only employ staff in our head office and to deliver care that are looking for meaningful work and have the same standards and values as we do.
We believe in enhancing the lives of our clients and therefore helping their families to relax in the knowledge that their loved one is in great hands.

NA
We can offer you an online meeting to discuss needs or options or just simply to explore live-in care or to chat to a potential carer but we cannot deliver care though the wonders of the web!

During the year of pandemic starting in March 2020, we served over 200 clients, keeping them safe and well.  It is a point of pride and also respect for our carers and team, given the lengths they went to, that we had less than 1% of our client and carer population succumb to Covid and not one of our carers took Covid into our clients’ homes.
We closely follow government and industry guidelines daily and implement changes as they occur.
Vaccination is a priority for us

Services

Fully managed service -
Our fully managed and regulated live-in care service means our carers are directly employed and managed by us whilst they are caring for you. They are supported by a care management team made up of care experts who ensure they are supervised and supported to provide the high standards of care our clients should expect. If you use an introduction agency you will be left to manage the carer, pay them and organise holiday cover once you are introduced to them and they start to care for you.
Compassionate care -
Our compassionate and respectful carer will be matched to not only meet your care needs, but we look to match personalities and interests. We know this makes for a fulfilling and pleasurable way of life based on friendship and companionship. Whilst respecting your privacy, our carer is trained to support your psychological and emotional needs too.
Vetted carers -
We carefully select carers against a comprehensive set of criteria that explores not only skills and experience, but backgrounds, interests and values so we can achieve effective matching with our clients. Unlike other home care providers, we ask our carers to complete a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) that assesses carer judgement in the context of delivering care to ensure those we hire have what it takes to deliver high-quality live-in care to our clients.

As part of our recruitment process we obtain police checks in both the UK and the carers home country, in addition to ensuring we have Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks completed.

Trained carers -
Our industry leading training programme completed by all our carers has been created with leading charities and clinical experts and goes well beyond industry standards. This enables our carers to support our clients to live well in their own homes. From induction training, into placement and beyond, our carers never stop learning new skills that ensure they have the skills required to provide high standards of live-in care, whilst finding new ways to further enhance the level of care they provide.

Specialist care -
We can deliver any level of care from Companionship to Complex care to Palliative and End of life care, tailor-made to our client's individual needs and reviewed, in person, on a regular basis.

CQC Good -
We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and our rating is "Good"
