Thought we would nip in for breakfast at 9.15 , as we had an appointment in Edinburgh, at 9,40 the tea and coffee arrived , by 9. 59 still no breakfast so we got up went to the bar and explained we had an appointment in Edinburgh so we couldn’t wait any longer ! Response was we are busy and we only have one chef , ( not that busy and it’s a breakfast service, nothing to technical, ) when presented with the bill she charged me for breakfast. As we hadn’t received it I refused to pay it and reluctantly paid for the tea and coffee , terrible service and won’t be back During our visit , the two waitresses realised , giggling at the bar that the gentleman that came in for breakfast hadn’t even had his order taken , he had been seated for around 20 min ! Went in around 4pm for something to eat , Lovely Friendly staff . 1 table already eating, we were sat down , menus given , drinks order taken , drinks order received . Table for 2 sat down , table of 4 sat down 5 minutes later , both their food orders taken , our order finally taken - just 2 roast beef from specials menu , another table of 2 sat down , their order taken , all the tables around us received their meals ….. we waited 10 more minutes before leaving without receiving our meals !!! Very disappointing as we had been in the night before for a meal and the staff were amazing and super helpful - thoroughly loved our meal which is why we came back ! Me and my Girlfriend were out at Dunnottar Castle having a wander round and taking some photos, so on the way back home we felt a little hungry and stopped in past Stonehaven for a late lunch. Due to this being in between Christmas and New Yr there were only a few places open, so we decided to try Number 44, as we entered we were greeted by a very friendly barman who told us to wait 5/10mins and they would get us a table. It is quite a small pub/restaurant but still cosy and the staff are really friendly, they have a wide lunch menu with a selection of sandwiches, soup and other larger portions available. We both had the ham sandwich with a bowl of fries to share. It would of been great to have a more normal selection of sandwiches such as ham & cheese, chicken and bacon etc, but our ham sandwiches were really good and came out in no time at all. Little bit pricey for a sandwich and drink but if your looking for lunch in the area this place is great for that. More...

Where to start?! Michelle, Ryan and the staff at Number 44 have been so helpful, we had my husbands 30th in their new function room which is absolutely beautiful! ! Nothing was too much for them, they helped me plan things that I required help with, Ryan was great at helping me set up the projector for a photo slideshow and made sure things would go smoothly on the night!! The staff on the night were fantastic they communicated so well with myself and the other staff working they regularly checked in to ensure all was ok and I was happy with everything. I honestly can’t recommend number 44 function room enough, If you are looking for somewhere to hold a special occasion this is honestly the best place for it!! We also stayed in the most stunning room, waking up and looking out on to beach was just spectacular! Again need anywhere to stay, number 44 is definitely the best place to go!! Thank you all so so so much!! I’ll keep trying for a vow renewal and I’ll be able to rebook your function room next year 😂 More...

was in the number 44 Hotel for 3 days from 13th August to 16th of August with my dad and 2nd cousin. we fairly enjoyed it and staff where all friendly and helpful. me and dad remember when was the Royal hotel as stayed before with my mum loved being back in the number 44 (aka the Royal hotel) will see all staff again soon More...
