What makes a great website?
- The message and or product service is clear as soon as the user arrives on the homepage.
- The site is clear, quick and easy to navigate and is responsive across mobile and tablet.
- The existing brand is carried online or created to create a professional and trusted feel.
- If there is lots of content, this is communicated on the homepage, rather than hidden away in tertiary layers.
- If commerce, the site is safe and secure.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
- Do you have any assets digital or offline? For example logo, branding, brand elements.
- Who is your target audience?
- What are you hoping to achieve or get from the site?
- What is your budget?
Describe your creative process.
Upon receiving a brief, or short description and any available assets I would design one or two initial concepts for review. In the case of site design, two concepts for a homepage, maybe a secondary page. For other multimedia, digital design or illustration, again an initial concept.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
Same questions as above, also what the deadline or timeframe is in which to work, and any background information or briefing required in order to deliver an appropriate response.
What do you love most about your job?
The concept and design process, happy and delighted clients. Pleasantly surprising people by being intuitive about their design needs. Seeing a project go live, hearing about results.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I worked within a company that was winding down and I felt I had enough knowledge and understanding of digital design to work independently and with my own clients and agencies.
Why should our clients choose you?
I can deliver a unique response creatively, on time and within or under budget, I am reliable and consistent in my communications. I can work across a wide range of styles and do a lot of corporate work. Much of this I am unable to display on my site because I have to sign NDAs through agencies, but examples can be provided at the discretion of my clients.
