How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Any space, used or neglected can be transformed into anything with the right creative minds behind it. If you want to save money on Garage conversion than following are the key notes:
> The walls - are they insulated, are they load bearing?
> The floor - type of flooring: polished concrete, rubber tile, epoxy, vinyl , stone etc. The floor type matters when it comes to what you need the garage space converted into. Different materials have different durability and most inportantly health and safety matters.
> The foundation/footing. Depending on the use you might have to upgrade the foundation/footing too.
These are the main key points to note when considering a garage conversion. These key points will also affect your budget.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
This process differs on the purpose of the space being transformed into. For study space below are the steps. Please note this again relies on the state of the garage.
> Design team inspects the garage and draws out a plan of what you require. We do the following after:
. Planning permission (some garages don't need it)
. Building regulation (Always safe to let the local authority know)
> Before any work can start the roof and walls need to be watertight. (this is all noted in the design phase)
> Floor slabs - Floor needs to be levelled.
> Infilling the door.
> Wall and Roof insulation.
> Windows & doors
> Heating & electrics
Finally we also provide the service of decorating the space.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Roof structure — Is it traditional cut rafter and purlin roof or a trussed roof?
Height — Is there enough height within your loft? Note the minimum height for a traditional roof is 2.2 to 2.4 meters and the minimum height for a modern trussed roof is 2.4 to 2.6 meters.
Space — Is the loft space large enough to provide a usable room?

> Design: A design for each room is presented, showing the colour scheme, furniture pieces, lighting specification, floor finishes, fabric palettes and room layouts.
> Construction and Fit-out : Here at Nepa Design we provide a full architectural and project management service.
> Consultation and Personal shopping (fees vary)
