Q&As

I’ve been fascinated with magic since I was 9 years old, and performing on stage since I was 11 – so well over half of my life. It’s taken me around the globe, from Blackpool to Las Vegas, and has provided me with some amazing mentors and friends.

It’s had its ups and downs, but it’s the one thing in life I love above all else: making people laugh and smile with magic.

You can expect a fun, silly and slightly madcap set of tricks and treats. Most shows, from professional experience, last for about 45-minutes (as the younger children tend to get a little restless after that) and are packed full of magic that kids and adults will love taking part in.

They’re built to be interactive, for children and older folks to shout out, join in and enjoy. With a mix of clowning from the character of Mr. Magicals and jaw-dropping impossible feats of magic, Mr. Magicals shows are great fun for all the family.

I love being able to make people laugh and helping them have a good time. Magic is one way I do this, but it’s also about freeing everyone up (no matter what their age) to be a little bit cheekier, a little bit more energised and take the world a little less seriously.

I’ve always wanted to work for myself, and have been incredibly fortunate to come from a family where I’ve never actually had an office or desk job with set hours. Being able to travel to new places and meet people is an essential part of this business, and I adore doing so.

I believe that every person, no matter their age, should believe in at least a little bit of magic.

Sharing magic with children and families is an amazing thing, and it fills with me with joy to see how excited and engaged kids become when they watch high-quality, professional magic performed - but I know it goes deeper than that.

It’s obviously very important to me that your children feel safe, happy and comfortable whilst I’m performing, and I endeavour to make sure every single one of them present is having a fun time, regardless of my own personal philosophy. Yet I truly believe we can use magic for something greater than an entertaining half-an-hour.

Magic is a way of treating children with the respect and intelligence which they deserve: I avoid using patronising language or using props that aren’t age appropriate, and I go out of my way to get as many of them as involved as possible and use magic as a tool to build communication, confidence and a sense of belonging.

Though I have fun and they get to have a laugh, it’s vital to me that any one taking part (regardless of age, ability or anything else, whether they’re being part of the trick or sitting at the back of the room) comes away thinking that they can do some magic if they really believe they can.
