I am a qualified and accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor.

I have always worked with people, for years as a social worker. I then made the choice to retrain as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, and for the last few years I have been managing my own successful counselling practice. In counselling I use an integrative approach, which means that I use my knowledge and experience of different therapeutic approaches, such as Person Centred Counselling, Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Therapies (CBT), to find a flexible approach that best meets the needs of my clients.

I work with adults, young people and with couples. I offer short-term and long-term therapy. Short term therapy is often focused on learning skills to manage a specific problem. In long-term therapy I help clients to explore deeper, in order to help them increase their awareness of their core beliefs, and how these beliefs affect their perception of themselves, and the world around them. We then look at how these perceptions colour their thoughts and feelings, and how clients can change the beliefs that no longer serve them.

With couples, I try to work on increasing their awareness and appreciation of each other’s differences and needs, so both partners can feel heard and understood, and feel safe to be real and vulnerable. A deeper understanding can often change partners’ perceptions of one another, and give a renewed chance to deeper connection and fulfillment.
