For two months my son, Blake, had had a severe itchy rash all over his back and treatment from my G.P. had not helped. Dr Bourne had previously tested my older son for chronic sinusitis and diagnosed an intolerance to cow's milk, so I made an appointment for Blake. On inspection, Dr Bourne suspected a house dust mite allergy, which was confirmed with vegatesting. As a result of Dr Bourne's advice and treatment, the problem completely cleared up in a few days. What do you love most about your job?
I used to be a busy general practitioner with only time for ten minute consultations. Now, in semi-retirement I take an average of two hours per consultation, get to know my patients and identify and treat the underlying causes of ill health rather than suppress symptoms with conventional drugs, which are disadvantaged by side effects.
What inspired you to start your own business?
In 1982, I had a patient with malignant hypertension, which was not helped with conventional treatment. Eventually, he was helped by a doctor practising complementary medicine (vegatesting), who found that his high blood pressure was caused by dental mercury poisoning. As a result of this experience, I attended courses on vegatesting myself and introduced some complementary medicine into my own NHS medical practice. In semi-retirement, I only practice complementary medicine. As a result of practising complementary medicine,, I have been able to help many patients, who had no success with conventional medicine.
