This locksmith was polite and pleasant and went out of his was to match the style of the handles which needed. I would definitely recommend him and I shall use him again.

The multi-lock door mechanism broke in my entrance door on Saturday morning. I had a couple of locksmiths interested in fixing it, and I engaged the first that has got in touch. To their credit they were very fast in sending someone out, but that is where the positive experience with them ended. A young lad came out, looked at the door and within minutes he said there is no other way to open it but drilling through. He said once he drilled through it, he could put something temporary in place until the new gearbox was ordered. I’m no expert so I would have probably bought into it, but he didn’t strike me as an experienced, ‘confident in his job’ person. Then he quoted the price for it all, to which I said I didn’t think the whole door cost me that much in the first place. I listened to my instinct and sent him away even though it cost me £70 in call-out fee. I won’t name the company or the locksmith but they are listed on Bark.
As I still had the problem with the door, I contacted the second locksmith who got in touch, John from Lockswift Welwyn. He was also very quick to attend. He managed to open my door without drilling through it, which the previous one said ‘no one will be able to do’. He also managed to temporarily fix it so I can lock it with the key. He disabled the multi-lock system and will help us to order a new gearbox. Even though he hasn’t finished yet I decided to leave a review because I want to pay credit to the truly exceptional service I have received from John so far.
The biggest difference for me was that I felt throughout he knew what he was doing, he explained everything very clearly and even showed me the problem once he got the gearbox out. Very pleasant, genuinely nice guy. Can’t recommend him highly enough and I have no doubt that I will think the same when the job has finished. More...
