Booked on the spur of the moment but what a find - lovely hotel with lovely staff who couldn’t do enough. Room 107 is a must and the food was excellent - really worth a visit - dog friendly too. It is situated close to Windermere and Bowness on Windermere where u can get the ferry to Hawkshead. More...

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend to celebrate a friend’s wedding.||There was so much history to this hotel and Beatrix Potter used to live there and wrote some of her books there. ||The reception was very friendly and helpful.||The food was excellent and the menus were extensive.||The room was spacious and had beautiful views over the gardens. We arrived late in the evening at the hotel. We were greeted to twinkling lights in the drive way and a lovely wreath hung on the hotels door. ||||A warm reception was offered by a male receptionist.||Our room was on the first floor, upon passing several guest rooms along the corridor, we were greeted with gloss paint fumes. This wasn’t great as it gives me headaches. ||That said I took some pain killers and settled in for a nights sleep. ||||The Nespresso machine in my guest room was missing its drip tray and when it finished dispensing it dropped every where.||||The room was very clean but very dated, it added to the charm of the hotel, I guess.||||We arrived one minute before Breakfast started and I was bellowed at by a general assistant lady, informing me there was a minute to go before I could enter the dining room. We were the only guests in the dining room for the duration of our Breakfast. I didn’t see the need to bellow to wait when everything was set up anyway.||||The car park was conveniently located next to the front door of the hotel. Perfect has it was raining heavy.||||I’ve awarded five stars as I feel with a little training and support to the hotel team, the tiny problems I encountered could be easily resolved.||||I look forward to my next visit in the new year to see if improvements have been made.||||||||. This hotel has a lot going for it: fine building, very convenient location, very nice public rooms, good bedrooms, charming and helpful staff. The grounds looked attractive too but the October weather wasn’t conducive to sitting out sadly, damp and chilly. But the views from rooms looking over Windermere are lovely. ||The two bedrooms we saw were very comfortable and well equipped although ours, a large superior room, had very poor lighting. Bedside lamps had to be propped up on books to throw enough light to read by in bed, and there was no overhead lighting.||The dining room is a lovely room, and the service was very good. The food was OK, nothing spectacular, somewhat expensive (nearly £10 a starter) and portions, particularly at breakfast, a bit mean: half of a tomato and only one rasher of bacon in the full English. But at dinner to be charged over £4 extra for a starter of two tiny thumb nail sized scallops was ridiculous.||Stay here again? Yes, as it is such a lovely location and it is very well equipped and comfortable. More...

A beautifully presented hotel in lovely grounds and only a short walk from Bowness. The staff were attentive and friendly and looked after our every need. The hotel room was spacious and decorated to a very high standard with a large comfy bed and nice bathroom. The food in the evening was excellent. Well cooked, nicely presented and plentiful with good sized portions. Breakfast was also great and set us up for the day ahead. The only downside was that we only stayed 1 night!! This could become our new favourite place in the lakes and I look forward to returning very soon. More...

Lindeth Howe is Beautiful...my first time here and definitely not my last. Stayed here for 4 nights in room 201. Which was a nice, clean room. Breakfast was served in the main dining room and it was delicious. Although we didn't have evening meal in there, we did have light bites in the bar and the food we had was amazing. Service was excellent, Carl the barman was lovely, very polite and friendly. In fact service through out the country hotel was excellent. Everyone made us feel welcome. Thank you all for making my stay a memorable one. Looking forward to my return on the 3rd January'20 to celebrate my birthday More...

We have visited this hotel a few times in recent years. The main rooms have been beautifully transformed to reflect the heritage of the hotel's associations with Beatrix Potter. Carpets include Potter characters and the butterfly link theme is carried through to the restaurant. Food is good, with portions to match and the choice offers interesting options. Our room was large and comfortable and had a lovely view of the Lake. The hotel is just far enough away from Bowness to ensure it is quiet - but it offers an easy walk too, if you want to leave the car at the hotel . More...

An absolute home from home. Cosy fire cracking upon entry. The blonde lady (apologies for not remembering your name) who greeted us and checked us in was an absolute credit to the name of the hotel. As somebody who works in UK tourism and having experienced dozens of UK hotels the lady’s pride, professionalism and local knowledge is second to none. The staff are an absolute credit to this place. The hotel speaks for itself. The public areas are beautifully decorated in a Beatrix Potter themed modern creative style with the bedrooms offering a cosy and comfortable retreat from the autumnal chill with a real local northern hospitality . The breakfast was served by attentive and warm staff in a five star style. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a true Lakeland getaway. More...

We booked an executive deluxe double room which was spacious, with a queen-sized bed and two televisions, The room had two aspects with spectacular views of the hills. The room was tastefully furnished to a high standard. The inclusive breakfast was very good, we would recommend the smoked haddock, kippers or full-English. The evening meals do include amuse bouche, we recommend the salmon fillet for a main course. The lamb cutlets were thin, with too much fat, however the Manager deducted the cost. Overall, the experience was very good and definitely recommended. More...

Don't know were to start, from entering the hotel till leaving, we were treated with competence, respect and with the attitude that nothing was to much trouble. The hotel itself, especially the décor, was something else we have never seen the like off, truly amazing. The room we stopped in was large, comfortable and had all the amenities that we could possibly want and more. Little things like ice bucket refreshed every day, and a jug of iced water, bathrobes and slippers really do make the difference. The room had double aspect windows with views over the grounds and the opposite hillside. For breakfast we where presented with a good choice, which was well prepared and presented and served by a great team. we found this hotel delightful and we will not hesitate to return. We could not select a certain member of staff for particular praise a the staff as a whole do a tremendous job. One final finishing touch was a birthday card, as this was part of a present for my 60th birthday. More...
