Hi I'm David a very experienced Listening Support Coach and Life Coach. I believe that many concerns we have can be solved by how we approach them; and that ultimately starts with our mind set and listening skills.
Everyone has dreams. Some people may be able to follow through with them and achieve what they want, while other people are often held back, due to internal fears, discouragement, criticism and low self-esteem. Life coaching helps you tap into your strengths and resources, in order to get what you want. It helps people discover their values and strengths and use these, in order to attain their goals. Thus, in turn, leads to greater happiness and fulfilment. A plan of action helps give you the necessary direction, momentum and motivation, in order to achieve their goals. Sometimes, goals may not be achieved. There are essentially two reasons for this: either the goal was unrealistic or your habits did not support the completion of the specified actions. Goals that are not backed up with a realistic action plan are never attained. In fact, even after tailoring an action plan to your needs, you may not have implemented the actions laid out in the plan. In the absence of a plan of action, goals remain dreams, without the accomplishments required, in order to turn these dreams into reality. Inconsistency, inner fears, limiting beliefs, a perceived lack of internal resources (for example, knowledge) and external resources (for example, money or time) often act as excuses for not completing actions.
Active Listening
What is the most underrated of coaching skills? for me, mind the ability to listen is the least trained ability that coaches possess. It’s taken for granted, rarely taken seriously enough, and often overlooked' it’s extremely important. Overlooking active listening can lead to greater problems in the home and workplace; it takes courage to sit and listen, rather than speaking.
How many times as a parent, a manager or leader have we heard, "you never listen", "you don't know what I want" "You don't care". You can change all of this by active listening; when you actively listen you can then plan fully and knowing the consequences of those decisions and the impact it has on ourselves and others.
