Q&As

STAGE 1
To start we'll speak to you about what you like; are there any restaurants, hotels, other homes or images on Pinterest you'd like to share which show the kind of style you'd like to achieve. No problem if there aren't! It's also helpful in this early stage to understand lifestyle ie are there young children so good storage space to throw things into would be helpful or you love entertaining so a large dining area would be great. We'll also talk through budgets and finally have a tour of the house. Over lockdown we've been doing this over Zoom and it's worked well.

STAGE 2
This will be mood boards for us to go through together. These should give an overview of the look and feel you'd like to achieve. As with all stages there may be some back and forth until we arrive at what feels right.

STAGE 3
This is where we'll create more detailed designs and put together a budget. This will involve drawings for each room showing the layout and will give an indication of choices for certain items, for example a blue kitchen or a pattern for tiles in the bathroom.

STAGE 4
Once we've agreed on the drawings the next part would be to start sourcing; everything from kitchens and taps, to pillows and lighting. You may find you want to be more involved in this stage or leave it all to us and we're happy to work either way. When sourcing you'll get emails with titles like 'Taps' or 'Kitchen Lights' with a list of links and/or images for you to choose from.
Alongside this would be getting the right team of builders and tradespeople on board to get started and making sure the sourcing is done in a timely fashion to meet their deadlines.

STAGE 5
Snagging - just the final details here and any small changes. For example some extra cushions in the living room or coving for the hallway.

We tend to start with a warm, simple base which will allow for plenty of options to take it from there. Julie's background and training in set design for the theatre means she tends to favour design with character; relaxed, stylish, a little bit luxurious and most importantly functional for you. It also depends on the space we begin with and what will work best within that environment. A period property and a new build require different things and suit different styles. We like to think one of our main skills is being sensitive and responding to the tastes and needs of the client.

The transformation, the classic before and after.
It's incredibly satisfying to design a space so it becomes somewhere people love to be; that looks lovely and works for you.

Around 10 years ago while working within theatre an actor asked me to renovate his house for him. It turned out to be a surprisingly fun and exciting new challenge, the work naturally escalated from there and I ended up working on the homes and offices of many of his friends.

With Kelly's experience in property we decided to bring our skills together. Kelly has a vast knowledge of all things property-related and with her exceptional organisational skills has managed many renovation projects.

With Kelly's knowledge of project management & my passion for design, we found our skills complemented each other perfectly.

We've gone on to buy, renovate and sell a number of properties together and worked on both residential and commercial projects over the years; as well as create wonderful homes & spaces for our clients.

We want to design a space that reflects your taste and lifestyle. The process can seem daunting but we're here to guide you and make it an enjoyable experience along the way.

Yes absolutely. We've been working over Zoom throughout lock down which has worked well. If there's an opportunity to visit the site at the outset that is optimal but there have been instances where this hasn't been possible and here we'll ask you to send us plenty of video's and photos. We're always at the end of the phone or Zoom to advise and guide you throughout the process.

We've moved site visits online which we're finding works exceptionally well!
