My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We were helping our son to move into his new house. We had originally intended to go for one of the generic chain hotels as all we needed was a bed for the night. So very glad we didn’t. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service is good. Frank, the owner/chef is convivial host. || The restaurant has a good range of food which was welcome after a day’s hard work. The food was tasty and the portion size, large. Both the food and the bar are reasonably priced, not like the inflated prices that some hotels charge because they have you on-site. The breakfast system (order the night before) was explained to us and we found it worked well. The breakfast is also generous and really sets you up for the day. ||Our room was large, especially compared to many chains. The beds are comfortable, there were ample towels which felt soft and fluffy rather than the cardboard texture of some places. Over all we felt the hotel was very good value. This will be our first choice when next we come up to visit our son (if he doesn’t have a bed for us!)||||Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay good. More...

I stayed with my husband for 2 nights. Good telephone communication with staff prior to arrival. We were very relieved to be able to park motorcycle trailer in the courtyard. Room pleasant, nice fully towel, warm shower. Decor and furnishings a little tired, especially in the bedroom, but comfortable. WiFi didn’t reach the bedroom. The best, though, was the kind owner, Frank, who is also chef, and the food. Green lipped mussels delicious, steak and ale pie very filling, and reasonably priced. The full cooked breakfast is enormous, and freshly cooked. I had to leave unexpectedly early and was without a car. Frank kindly drove me to the next village so I could catch a bus. I have stayed here 6 nights in total through this year. The welcome is friendly and the service is very good. I was well looked after by Frank and James and I have to say the food in the evenings I have always enjoyed, be aware though. ... Frank doesn't know the meaning of a 'small' anything.... so be aware when you order your breakfast, you might need another nap afterwards. ||||The rooms are comfortable, even though the decor could do with being updated. Good tea and coffee making facilities in what are large rooms. It's a quiet village, so a good night's sleep was always had!||||Very handy for going to Mallory Park and if you need an early breakfast, as I did, it's there on the table for you at your requested time. Remember to order breakfast the night before! ||||Frank, the owner / chef works very hard and I totally understand the tough job he has, being in the industry myself. Great value is to be found at Kirkby Manor. The garden rooms are basic but comfortable. The rooms in the main house have more character and space, but come with a corresponding higher price. As per many previous reviews, this is one lovely hotel. Some of the decor is a little tired, but the value for money is incredible.
