Therapist

I was going through a really rough patch in my life and was having problems in a couple of my closest relationships when I started therapy with Frances. Frances has a lovely calming effect and gently guided me into understanding why i may respond in a certain way so that I slowly started to understand myself more. Her therapy has helped me gain control over my emotions and responses more so that I can have healthier relationships with the people who mean the most to me. She has also taught me to start prioritising myself more. I would highly recommend Frances and I would go back to her for help in the future if needed. More...

Q&As

I am driven by curiosity and wonder about the human condition in all its manifestations from great joy to deep sadness; from inspirational creativity to terrifying destruction. Sharing people’s journeys is a great privilege as well as a huge responsibility. I work to create a safe space in which there is shared trust and mutual respect. Creating this safe structure gives rise to the greatest potential for experiencing problems in a less threatening way and of refreshing any situation with waves of recharged energy.

My own life journey has been challenging, difficult and inspiring. I have gone through many changes annd explored many options. My approach to this work is to encourage people to find what it is that motivates them and to look at what stops them fulfilling their goals, what is making them unhappy and frustrated and what is holding them back? I have developed some unique approaches to these situations which I share and develop during our sessions.

I am a compassionate, friendly and non-judgemental listener. I focus on helping clients to find practical solutions as well as exploring the emotional and psychological significance of current and past experiences. If I feel someone is at risk I will advise on how to become safe and stay protected.

Services

Exploring the origins and triggers of these often disturbing and disruptive states and introducing self-monitoring management strategies; working towards increased self-confidence, self-esteem and empowerment.

Exploring the depths and stages that usually accompany any major loss or transition. This can involve someone we love, or someone we have fallen out with; or when we have left a job, a way of life or a place. There are many milestones on the road to adjustment, often with mixed feelings and conflict. It’s not always straightforward. Coming to terms with a new situation and exploring our options involves letting go as well as acknowledging how we have grown and changed in positive ways and becoming aware of negative patterns and destructive habits. How we move on can be profound and enriching; eventually taking us to the next stage of our life with a sense of renewal annd achievement while fully celebrating what we have left behind.

Using a set of unique creative tools explore your options, hopes, dreams and plans in a framework that helps you prioritise and develop your ideas.

Awareness of the natural world and being in touch with Nature’s cycles of change brings a significant healing and well-being dimension into daily life. It helps stimulate and regulate our immune system triggering the release of certain beneficial hormones. Working with the five elements - water, earth, fire, air and metal - allows us to develop a more natural daily routine even if we have a demanding 9-5 job. These elements have an ancient relationship with the body’s energy system and work with the synergy of our internal organs. All the senses are enhanced when we engage with Nature. My work incorporates references and practical exercises to all these natural triggers and mechanisms helping to build our resilience and compassion towards ourselves and others.

There are many questions we ask throughout the different stages of our lives and we naturally want to explore ideas we may have about ourselves: who we are, the influence of our heritage and origins, our cultural and historical memories, individual and collective trauma including diaspora and abuse, feelings and curiosity about our sexuality and gender.
These are all immensely significant explorations in therapy as they help us to understand our life journey and its purpose.
My approach supports you to not be fearful to discover and embrace your true self and to be confident about who you are and what you want to be.
