From the outside this place might look professional and elegant, but how they treat their staff is appalling, I happened to overhear a conversation between a manager and a member of staff, and how the manager just went in on this poor member of staff, it was brutal. Vandana did a wonderful job of my hair and make-up for my wedding. She was very accommodating and arrived really early and did a great job of giving me a very natural look.
Even though we didn’t get the chance to do a trial, she was able to improvise and work through my preferences on the day and made it a stress free experience for me.

Extraordinarily helpful and supportive care home

My father was here for 6 months. On the positive side, the interior is decorated beautifully. Many of the staff are very nice people - especially Doreena and Ileana (though by no means are they the only ones). Doreena especially I have high regard for - there was a period when my father was quite ill and she really stepped up to ensure he ate and drank as much as they could get him to. I also remember the head chef seemed like a really nice lady - she would often come into the room to try encourage my father to eat. Many others I think were also good.On the other hand, there were some challenges. One was the consistency of care. Not all of the staff had the same attitude - there were a few that didn't seem to maintain the same standard of care as the others. Additionally, the home just simply couldn't seem to solve the problem of my father's stoma bag leaking. It was an ongoing issue the whole time he was there - to the point where we thought there was just a fundamental issue around it with respect to my Dad (for example he had lost a lot of weight). However - now he has moved to another care home - it's never a problem! Occasional small leaks do occur - but almost never! This suggest the care home needed to invest in ensuring all the staff were trained up sufficiently - this is a management issue.The other main problem was that on occasion my father would have to wait hours for someone to do something. And he would have to chase them. This happened too frequently I think for the standard of care we were hoping for.I think the medical care was also a bit hit and miss. My Dad definitely felt the resident GP didn't really care (that's partly an NHS issue). My only thought is that a lot of the patients they have there have dementia. As a result - they possibly needed to take precedence over my father on care - who doesn't (thankfully) have dementia.Overall it's probably a place that is best suited for specific types of patients (gujurati vegetarians that are religious, those with dementia). Those outside of that might not find it the most ideal place for them.I genuinely think that most of the staff are people who care for the residents - but getting better organised to ensure consistent care, investing more in training when things are not working right and ensuring that all staff reach the same standard would help them to be better. This place is more like an upscale hotel with carers than a care home. It is impeccably decorated, each patient room has an en suite with well thought out shower with all necessary supports. The beds are comfy, the food is delicious, there's a good ratio of staff to residents, the layout is well designed, and it's very friendly. The place even has a cinema, a small shop, and a beauty salon on the premises, as well as a lovely garden with fish pond. Vandana is professional and highly experienced. Family celebrations tend to be hectic and I was glad to be in good hands. I felt pampered, looked fabulous and got excellent value for money!

Karuna Manor is a beautiful luxury Asian care home that meets Asian residents cultural and spiritual needs. It is the only Asian care home that has a large temple and yagnashala.
