I took up Karate as a way to keep myself fit and active but there are so many more benefits such as stress relief, self -defence and discipline. I think back to when I first started and the notable improvements I have made in my strength, power, flexibility, focus and fitness. Every lesson is varied, every warmup is varied: sometimes it’s the traditional run around the dojo performing various exercises, sometimes it’s the modern style HIIT. It’s a great environment to train in with a good mix of ages and abilities. Everybody is very friendly. This is a fantastic club and a brilliant environment for young and old alike. Give it a go! Awesome club. Learn at your own pace amongst others at varying levels. Very friendly, other members are always willing to help if you need any assistance. Sensei Ashley focuses attention on learning by taking part and having fun and enforces showing respect for all members. Suitable for all ages. Also fab for fitness if karate grading isn't your thing. Found it great that Ashley allows you to try the club for a few sessions before committing to it fully. Nothing to lose. Give it a go. More...

I Couldn’t Imagine Training Anywhere Else

I joined Karate-Hull at the age of 35. I wasn’t sure what I would be walking in to but I can say I love it! Sensei Ashley is a very approachable guy and his training style is excellent.

The lessons are hard work and you definitely get out what you put in. Since training I have noticed a definite increase in: cardio fitness, flexibility, coordination, strength, power, self-defence and stress release! (and I’ve only been doing it 6 months!)

Everyone is very friendly and always willing to lend a hand. You train with a mixture of ages and abilities. The lessons are hard work but good fun too.

I contacted hull karate about 3 years ago because my son was asking to do karate. After talking with sensei Ashley he convinced me to join with Nico ,and I must admit I was slightly nervous due to muscle spasms in my neck from an old gym injury . But 3 years on, Nico and I have just got our brown belts ,training twice a week and guess what, no more neck problems. I can only put this down to all the stretching and my improved core body strength. Nicos confidence has also grown over the years too and we both have met some really nice friends, so get fit destress and do shukokai it's a great way to exercise and have fun .
Cheers

So a year ago I take my then six year old to start learning karate, a year later he is still loving it and loving his new yellow belt and somewhere along the line his 40 year old dad (me) joined in too (loving my yellow belt too) if you are thinking about taking up karate for you or your kids then do not hesitate to go and see what karate hull is all about, at this point it's actually unclear who enjoys it more me or my son but what is clear is that we both love going and have both made new friends through going.

4 years ago I was looking for a sport I could do with my Son (then 6yrs old) we started training with Sensei Ashley at Karate Hull and it has been a fantastic journey for both of us and also a great bonding experience. .The club has grown since then and is an excellent fun, safe, but professional place to learn a traditional form of karate 'Shukokai'. From fathers & sons, mothers & daughters, young people to the more mature students. Everyone is made welcome and the teaching is tailored to suit all needs. My son and I are currently training for the coveted black belt in November its been hard but extremely fulfilling and I cant recommend Karate Hull enough. Excellent Karate School for students of all ages, Excellent instruction by Sensei Ashley Harrison 4th Dan, who makes the Shukokai form of Karate and self defence, fun and easy to learn, the atmosphere in the club is very happy but in a disciplined arena, There is no pressure on students, who can learn and grade at their own pace and ability or use the club as a form of keeping fit if grading if not essential Students can train 3 times weekly, Mondays, Wednesday and Saturdays. I would recommend this club very highly to all new or previous students of other forms of Martial arts to come along and give it a go More...

I've trained here for over 3 years, and would definitely recommend it. Ashley is a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and encouraging instructor who is always investing lots of time and effort into the club. The training is well-rounded, incorporating traditional karate techniques, strength/fitness training, as well as sparring and self-defence. Safety and respect are taken seriously though, both in the class and out in the real world. The younger students in particular are taught that violence is only ever a last resort. It's often a tough workout, but the classes are enjoyable. There's always a good atmosphere and a sense of camaraderie with the other students. More...
