Jon cooked and served an amazing dinner for our friend's 70th birthday. He tailored his menus to suit us and even cooked the bread at his in-laws before arriving, as he had a power cut!
The quality of the cooking was very high and all beautifully presented. We started with a generous and varied selection of canapés and then we sat down to 4 more delicious courses. We chose the pressed ham hock, the beef sirloin cooked to individual preferences and finished with a deconstructed key lime pie and truffles.
Jon was very helpful from the planning stage onwards and left the kitchen clean and tidy.

I hired Jon to cater for 16 people at our 1-year wedding anniversary. Throughout the process, Jon was highly communicative and professional, with a great idea for menus.

I hired Jon to cater for my sister's hen party in June. After explaining that I was after a relaxed sharing style and Mediterranean themed menu he shortly after came up with a menu that was exactly what I had imagined so it needed little/no revisions. He was very accommodating of the various dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten-intolerant, and provided alternatives where necessary. On the day, Jon was friendly and professional. He brought everything he needed and cleaned up spotlessly after. The food was excellent and everyone was very impressed (and very full!). He even brought his own tasteful crockery which was very convenient for us. The gluten free alternatives were also delicious and well-considered, and the gluten intolerant guest even got his bread recipe off him! Booked a taster menu with Jon for my partners 50th lockdown birthday. Jon was very understanding and provided ideas to cater our requests to create the perfect menu. Jon was a pleasure to deal with and what can I say, the food was out of this world and cooked to perfection. Never booked a private chef before and it was an amazing experience. We asked Jon to come up with a memorable Valentine's Day meal with a difference: we were sharing it in Lockdown with a vegetarian daughter and a non-vegetable loving son. Jon rang and took a lot of time to listen to our various dietary requirements before taking those ideas away to come up with a menu. He sent us some suggestions, as promised, the very next day, laid out in a beautiful format, with really well-thought-through dishes. We plumped for a Cauliflower veloute with accompaniments (of which more, later), smoked salmon, chicken breast, roast chicory and celeriac, an amazing polenta cake, cheeseboard and petit fours. (We haven't been to a restaurant in a year - we deserved a treat, we thought.) Jon was proactive in his liaison throughout, keeping us up to speed with delivery times etc. But all this still left us unprepared for the meal that arrived. Jon's attention to detail is amazing: he delivered the meal in three boxes - beautifully wrapped, labelled and presented. Each of the dishes was accompanied by a sheet showing us how to place the food on the plates for a real restaurant experience. Opening each of the packets was honestly like a fabulous Christmas - all four of us were gathered in the kitchen oohhing and aaahing over the beautiful pots of whipped butter, the choice of artisan bread and the picked apples/shallots/beetroot etc that went to make up a fabulous selection of garnishes. And because we were having to finish off the meal at home (social distancing), Jon had even put a quality chef's apron in as a final, really thoughtful touch. Even better, the taste of the food lived up to expectations - every course was delicious. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. We'd never used Bark previously. Lockdown has sent lots of us to the internet to source things we'd usually experience in person. Some are disappointing. Some are not. Jon made organising a very special celebration meal for two effortless. He responded to my brief with an elegant bespoke menu that perfectly suited the occasion and required a minimal amount of prep on the day. Everything was delivered on time, beautifully packaged and presented with a printed menu and simple instructions. The food itself was delicious, generously portioned and fresh. The palmiers and truffles were a thoughtful addition and well received. My in-laws were delighted overall by their dine-at-home experience. Jon was fantastic from start to finish. He shared a variety of options for our 2 person menu and then he tailored the dishes to our personal preferences. He also very kindly made sure everything was suitable for me being pregnant.
The meal was absolutely incredible, professionally presented and made with high quality ingredients. Alongside the 3 course meal was freshly baked bread, an amuse bouche, petite fours and a mini birthday cake for my husband. It was better than going to a restaurant!
The portion sizes were also generous and despite being big eaters we were left feeling very full!
