I'm a professional musician working mostly with a folk group called Moonrakers. In additional to live concerts we do residential and day workshops across the country as well as private teaching.

Jon is a wonderful musician, composer, arranger, singer, and he plays all sorts of stringed instruments in his band Moonrakers.
He taught me ukulele and acoustic guitar, and I have improved greatly. My dream of singing and playing guitar has come true!

What do you love most about your job?
I really enjoy seeing people of all ages achieving a level of satisfaction and enjoyment from their playing and exploring new musical ideas.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I work through my band, Moonrakers, which has become something of a cottage industry that combines live performance with workshops and private teaching.
Why should our clients choose you?
Many of my students also come to our workshops and we build a relationship over time with them.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I can do online lessons, though this tends to work mostly for technical lessons, not for actually playing together. However, the technology is getting better and better! Some students actually do both, visiting me personally when they have the chance.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
My music room is spacious and well-aired. During the summer we can often go in the garden
Guitar teacher
I'm a professional teacher with many years' experience. Acoustic guitar at all levels from beginner to advanced player. Mainly folk and blues styles - fingerstyle and strumming - especially useful for those wishing to accompany themselves singing. However, I can also teach solo playing (i.e. tunes) and I work with tablature. I also provide a free follow-up video of what we covered and what you need to practice.
Whistle
I'm a professional tutor and performer. I teach all whistle sizes from high D to low-D. We would cover playing techniques and I can introduce you to many new tunes, how to play them with ornamentation and develop a high quality tone. I also provide a free follow-up video of what we covered and what you need to practice.
Irish bouzouki
I'm a professional tutor and performer. This is an increasingly popular instrument, especially in folk circles. I can teach accompanying techniques as well as solo tune playing. For bouzouki, read 'mandola', 'mandocello' and 'octave mandolin' - they are all essentially the same instrument. I also provide a free follow-up video of what we covered and what you need to practice.
Mandolin
I'm a professional teacher and performer. I teach basic chord theory, strumming and solo tune playing techniques for beginners through to intermediate players. An advantage is that I also play guitar and other instruments which opens the possibility of playing as a duo during the lesson.
