How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Unless it is a prefabricated stand alone garage then the chances are it is suitable for conversion.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Usually a garage conversion is classed as permitted development so no planning required. The rest of the project should be planned with the correct insulation, wiring and plumbing, including heating.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
If an average person stands in the middle of the loft space and the ridge beam is touching their head head it is likely that the roof is not suitable for conversion. The higher the ridge beam (say 2.4 metres and above, the better the finished job will be.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Once the scaffolding is up 80% of the work is done from the outside, with a 4-5 day period when the stair hole is knocked through. This is a dirty job but the disruption can be minimised by tackin a heavy tarpaulin between the landing walls with battens to catch the worst of the mess.
How long have you been in business?
Over 40 years working on my own, initially in Somerset and in Surrey for 25 years
What guarantee does your work come with?
I am a joiner by trade and have never had a customer complain about the workmanship before, during or after the project has finished.
What do you love most about your job?
Job satisfaction and making new friends along the way.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It runs in the family, my father, grandfather and grat grandfather were all cabinet makers, joiners and shopfitters.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because I only take on a few jobs at a time to ensure personal service and I have a £5,000,000 Public Liability Insurance !
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Computers will not be doing building work in my lifetime unless I am mistaken !
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Working in lofts minimises contact with customers but when we do make contact we keep 2 metres away (easy to judge 2 metres when you are in my trade) and we wear masks.
