What do you love most about your job?
The variety and the thrill creating something fresh. When a patron suggests an idea and the novelty of it is at first glance a challenge, the excitement of finding a composition and making it come to life is always hugely rewarding.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After art collage it was the natural thing to do and the military was always asking for art as well as civilian commissions, so the one thing led to another and I learnt the ropes on the way.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am hugely adaptable. I use traditional methods as much as possible to keep as much artistic authenticity as possible and the digitisation of my work is so simple these days.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I can work from home or I can visit with a mask if the client requires it. I have had the vaccinations, and am happy to maintain social distancing.
Teaching
Hugh can teach the techniques from Titian to Singer Sargent, using busts that he keeps in his studio. He is happy to teach one to three people at a time, His studio is near Colchester. He can also do visits as a teacher.
Art Director
Hugh can give direction on many aspects of art and design from a classical to modern perspective. He has creative solutions many tasks involving art. His current job is working with people who have no art background, helping them to improve the look of their products.
Lecturer
Hugh can give talks on Art History in general and History Painting in detail. He has much to say on Military art and Propaganda and life as self employed painter.
