What is Companionship care?
Many people we support simply want company and conversation, whether they live alone and cannot see their family and friends as often as they would like, or if they are recently bereaved and are finding it hard to adjust. Loneliness can have serious effects on a person’s health and Home Instead aims to prevent loneliness through companionship care.

The company of our CAREGivers
From giving you a hand with the weekly shop, accompanying you to your doctor’s appointment or to your favourite social group or event, companionship is simply being there for you or your loved one. If you need someone to make sure you’re eating healthily or just fancy popping out for lunch? No problem, our CAREGivers are there for you.

Live well with Home Instead
We believe that age isn’t a barrier to adventure. We’ve also had a huge amount of success in helping older people start something new. Many of our clients have taken up new hobbies such as learning to dance, play instruments, knit and cook specialist dishes. If there’s something new you’d like to start, or an old passion you’d like to revisit, we can match you to the right person to help you achieve this.

Whatever it is that you enjoy doing, we’ll find the right CAREGiver to support you and become your chosen companion.

Our care and support also takes into account other things such as health conditions or the frailties associated with ageing and we can offer care at home services tailored for those living with life changing or long-term illnesses such as dementia, Parkinson’s and other conditions.

As with everything else we offer, our personal care services are tailored to you and your wishes.

Dementia affects more than 850,000 people in the UK and the figure is growing at an unprecedented rate. By 2051, over 2 million people will have been diagnosed with a type of dementia. These are not just statistics; they represent the millions of families with loved ones who require special care and support to live a fulfilled life with dementia.

You might be wondering how to respond to behaviours and situations caused by dementia or how to care for your loved one with dementia in a dignified way.

Through our years of providing home care to many elderly people with dementia, we have a lot of answers to these questions. We are here to help.

Establishing Dementia home care
With or without a diagnosis, people often need support and assistance to help them retain as much independence and live as fulfilled lives as possible. An early recognition and acknowledgement of support can help families establish care as part of the daily routine, helping those with memory loss to remain independent. We have developed a unique training programme for our CAREGivers which is accredited by City & Guilds and specialised for the home environment. Developed by leading experts in ageing and dementia from around the world, it helps our CAREGivers to provide the best quality care possible using different strategies to support the person living with dementia.
