There was an issue with the fitting of the flooring which I have tried to resolve. But not got anywhere other than a few emails. I did request that someone at least come and look to see why I am unhappy with the final finish but they don't seem interested. The actual floor quality is lovely...I just feel very unhappy that despite paying a lot of money they won't even vist to look at my issues. Friendly and helpful in the showroom. I was keen to go ahead and he gave me a provisional date pending survey and measuring. Survey done, heard nothing so I called to chase and told now no availability until Dec 19th. I'd cancelled off one of the big chains who'd matched their price because I wanted to support local trades. Overpromised and under delivered, and now my job is even further delayed. Had 2 opt for choosing a carpet at home, living in Heywood, with no car, it's 2 far 2 go to the show rm. I said I wanted a plain grey carpet with choice in low & mid price/quality range as I was out of touch with carpet prices. I was given just 2 choices, I expected 5/6. The more expensive mid range one didn't feel superior 2 the lower one & I was told sometimes you pay for the brand, this was apparent. I ended up going with the lower range as there was no other choice. I only went ahead as I needed them doing asap, otherwise I'd have stayed more local & gone to a showroom for more choice. Opted for new underlay in the liv rm as I thought the 1 already down would've flattened/degraded over time. Was unaware it would've lasted another 1-2 carpets laid over it as they make it to last. I only found out as I was removing it & saw how good it was & asked the guys if they would recycle some old underlay on the landings when fitting the new carpet, which they were happy 2 do & they explained it'll last 2-3 carpets. I didn't get a choice in the new underlay & my previous 1 is a better quality than the new 1 fitted, you can feel the difference. My old underlay also had a plastic backing which I'd have preferred as I wash my carpets & worried the new underlay may absorb more water & take longer 2 dry. I wanted stairs fitted with underlay, but was told for the 2nd time (2 different companies) that it couldn't really be done as they are solid stairs & the grippers wouldn't hold. I asked the carpet fitters when they arrived, for future when I arrange to get another carpet fitted can the stairs be fitted with underlay with preparation time-they said yes, so I'm annoyed it wasn't given as an option beforehand. The new carpet look & feels like a thinner, lower quality version than the sample piece I was presented with, I could tell as soon as they unrolled it & my heart sank. It isn't as good quality as my last low range carpet. Update-carpet has been down 16 DAYS & already showing signs of wear on the stairs. Shockingly poor quality. My last low price carpet lasted 8-10 years, doubt I'll get a year out of this one. Feel like I've been ripped off. REPLY. LIES! A) YOU made the decision on my behalf when I mentioned I had cats that a loop pile would not be suitable. My last carpet was NOT a loop pile carpet, confirmed by estimator, so that's a lie! B) I purposely didn't mention my budget to the guy measuring, so that's another lie about the mid range being out of my budget. The 1 sample of mid range was no better quality than the 1 sample of low range so why would I opt for a more expensive carpet of no better quality! I could afford high range, but I have no faith in carpet companies & their honesty & I was proved right, especially when told you often pay for the brand, not the quality. Low range is no excuse for shockingly poor quality of carpet which differed in quality from the sample shown, it should not be called "hard wearing" when it clearly is not. My last low range carpet was much better quality than yours, so blows your opinion out the water about the price paid C) You are the company selling me a product, it's not down to me 2 ask for further samples, a company wanting 2 sell a product & provide good customer service would ask if the customer was happy with the choice & provide more than 2 to begin with. If 2 are provided, then it suggests that's all that's available, plus the guy didn't seem 2 want to hang around, it's partially not his fault, he's not a salesman, it's yours for convincing him to stay on in that role. D) people who have been 2 my home since say "it feels springy" when standing on old underlay, they don't when standing on new underlay! Speaks for itself E) with your attitude showing in your reply, it's apparent that it's highly unlikely you would have done anything to rectify my dissatisfaction in my dealings with your company had I contacted you by email. F) of course the fitters/estimator are going to deny what they said-they want more business fm you!! I certainly won't be returning More...

Excellent excellent service from the chaps at Holmes Carpet, can't recommend enough. Steven came and quoted the job of carpeting stairs, landing and second bedroom (which came back very fair) and we had the carpet fitting booked in for the next week. The fitters came and were super polite and friendly, and most importantly have done a superb job. I'll definitely be using Holmes again for future flooring needs. I had a nightmare experience! I ordered carpet, laminate and skirting boards fitting. I was very disappointed with service especially that I have chosen this company after seeing the good reviews on google! I have attached photos of examples of the completely unacceptable skirting boards fitting. The fitter came without bring the correct nailing/screwing and equipment needed to for the fitting! I even tried to buy it for him but couldn’t managed to find them at the local handy shop. He came next day to fit them, and it was a disaster! I have provided enough skirting boards with 4.2m and 3.2m length and the fitter excessively cut them and the badly join/align them. Attached photo with an example of the small bedroom with 1.8 m length - why the skirting boards needed to be cut minimum twice on one wall and badly joint? — I don’t understand! All rooms were left in such a state that I had to order new skirting boards and pay for another joiner to come and fix the damage. Not only this - but the carpet fitting team have left 2 doors lying on the floor as they forgot to bring their saw when they came to do the fitting! I finally managed to have some reduction - put the amount of hassle I had to go through to finally convince the manager was unbelievable! I think they can be good in fitting carpet and laminate - but not skirting boards! More...

We employed Holmes Carpets to supply and fit one carpet, following recommendation from a friend who has had most of their house done. Supply issues meant the carpet arrived a week later than planned but this was outside of the company's control. The carpet itself, from Vivendi, is very good quality and looks great in the room. The fitting was performed excellently and efficiently by Holme's friendly, and clearly experienced, fitter Leo. Found Holmes through a friend who had used their service for blinds and carpets. Phoned and made arrangements for a home visit, Malcolm came to see us with samples of the above, no pressure sales and very knowledgeable to our needs. From making choices once a price given and agreed it took 2-3 weeks to fit (blinds needed to be made). Carpet fitter experienced, efficient and friendly . A bonus Malcolm was our blinds fitter.
