We contacted a few companies as this was a new care need. As we were new to this we looked around and asked for recommendations. Helping hands were professional, caring and responded in a timely manner. This made a stressful situation much easier, we were talked through each step, a home visit was arranged to discuss options and needs in a no pressure visit. Even though they were busy with clients they managed to meet our needs. When the situation improved and care package needed amending and hours reduced they were happy to do this with no cost penalties. I always have the same carer who comes on time and knows my likes and how I do some things for myself We get on well together and she knows where everything lives in the house so when she went on holiday I didn’t know what to expect from someone else . Our family think it is important for our mum to have some help at home so that she can continue to lead an independent life. Currently Helping Hands attend once a week to give her kitchen and bathroom a good clean. Mum also enjoys talking to the person who comes. Helping Hands regularly review with mum if she needs more or different help. I am reassured that someone from Helping Hands visits mum on a regular basis and that we have a means of developing the type and frequency of care as her needs change. The only thing I would ask is that mum has the same person or at most two different people attend to her her so that she can get to know them better and build that important trust and in turn the people helping mum get to know her and be mindful of any changes they observe that may need highlighting.
