I had my first lesson on Saturday 21/07/18 and I must say what an experience. I was lucky enough to contact a professional helicopter company the first time. The welcome is warming and nothing is a problem for them, they cannot do enough for you. My instructor is Candia and i must say she makes you feel so comfortable that you don't feel nervous. On 12th July, I bought my husband a helicopter flight for his 70th birthday, my son and his girlfriend went with him. They had a fantastic time and haven't stopped talking about it since. I would urge anyone who might be hesitant about trying a helicopter flight to go with Heliflight...it was a superb experience for an introductory trial lesson. .. informative, very hands on and guided in safe hands throughout. Before flying I received an easily understandable, but explicit briefing as to how the main controls worked. Then we swiftly moved onto the helicopter itself. The cockpit of the R22 is compact and cosy and from the outset I was encouraged to maintain contact with the controls to understand the movements. I then had the opportunity to control the flight for approximately half of the allocated time...which excluded the take off, understanding the practical processes of the flight and the of course the landing. Opportunities were available for photographs before during and after, but I was happier enjoying the feel of the flight itself. Candia is a great instructor answering all my questions clearly and obviously proud to share her skills with anyone interested in helicopters. Throughout the whole flight I felt totally safe whilst fascinated by the mechanics of the flight. I must also mention Harry with whom I'd held several telephone conversations prior to my visit. He was very friendly and patient with my enquiries; and he provided helpful advice in order to get the best out of the flight. Both Candia and Harry are great representatives for Heliflight. This was my first time ever in a helicopter and it couldn't have been a better introduction. The principles of rotary wing flight were clearly explained in a pre-flight briefing then demonstrated in the air. After that I was gradually given control, one control at a time. This meant that I was never overwhelmed by the process and felt comfortable at every stage. I got to fly over the beautiful countryside and, on return to the airfield, even got introduced to controlling the aircraft in a hover. My instructor was excellent and gave me just the right amount of independence, coupled with the confidence that she was there to support me at all times. It's been a lifelong ambition to fly a helicopter. All too often the expectation exceeds reality but NOT in the case of my first lesson with Heliflight. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by a very professional team. Following a briefing at which the aircraft controls were explained I was ushered to the aircraft and photographs taken. While I flew, my partner and her daughter were treated like Royalty and shown around the helicopter hanger. My flight out over the City was breathtaking. The City appeared as if it were a scale model; throughout the flight my pilot/instructor chatted and gave commentary on the various control inputs. After this delightful scenic part of the flight I was given the opportunity to explore some of the control inputs and experience how these affect the flying charactistics of the Helicopter. On our return to the airfield I was given control and 'flew' the helicopter which I found to be an amazing experience. On our to the airfield I was given the opportunity to (try to ) hover the machine, a very challenging task but with a highly competent pilot next to me I felt perfectly safe, not sure the pilot did but she was totally in control. Had a brilliant day, family and friends bought me this wonderful experience, owing to weather we postponed a few times, but our calls were handled professionally on every occasion. Took two of my grandchildren along and they were entertained by a young man called James who showed them around the hangers and look at the aircraft, they haven't stopped talking about it. Enjoyed having a go at flying the helicopter, hope my instructor has recovered. Would I recommend and would I go again you can bet on it - longer still next time. Thank you More...

I had my trial lesson with Heliflight last weekend as a birthday present from my family, I have always wanted to try and was NOT disappointed! We were made very welcome from the moment of arrival into a calm atmosphere which certainly helped. We visited on 22/07/2017 for what was a 60th Birthday present from the kids. The whole family turned up and Helliflight were absolutely brilliant in giving the grandchildren a great view and entertaining them when my wife and I were out flying. Candia gave a great pre-flight briefing and then we were off to the Severn Bridges via the Forest of Dean, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle, and on the the return Thornbury Castle, Berkley Castle and of course Gloucester Cathedral. I was allowed to control the craft for a significant proportion of the flight (about an hour) and words like awesome do not do justice to the whole experience. Back at Staverton - I got the opportunity to hoover and turn the copter which again just added to what was a total experience. Flying a fixed wing was good but this was the best. As a lover of aviation both simulated and real, I received a trial lesson as a present. I was greeted by John, who was very professional and has a clear passion and desire to share his interest with customers. My instructor, Harry, then introduced himself and gave me a quick briefing, which not only enabled me to refresh my understanding and ask questions, but also enabled him to gauge the level I was at and deliver the lesson accordingly. Harry's style of teaching was impeccable, and he went a long way to making me feel like I was in control of the aircraft, taking time to boost my confidence and make note of my successes too. After my flight John was more than happy to stand and have a leisurely chat about flying, there was no hurry to get us out of the door once we were done. The only issue I left Heliflight UK with is being unsure of how, as a university student, I'm going to be able to fund my PPL(H), which I'll certainly do with them! More...

Had a great flight with you yesterday for my Dad's 65th birthday. Had a short operational delay that was handled well and we were kept informed before our flight. Then we boarded the helicopter and it's was amazing. After getting our bearings we loved spotting family and friends properties and waving at a few of them! The sights of Eastnor Castle, the Malvern Hills, Tewkesbury and Gloucester from the helicopter were all pointed out by pilot who was friendly and knowledgeable. Half an hour over Stroud, 9 June 2015, everything from a different perspective, I found it quite amazing & a totally delightful experience. Wearing earphones the noise is much less than the earlier clip below suggests - and the views were much better - spectacular in fact. The pilot was top rank, just the occasional quiet informative comment. Highly recommended and good value. Try it! More...

Fantastic job, R22 rating, some hour building and the CPL course all completed in five weeks despite other small (exam) distractions.
