We could not have picked a more unique, beautiful and quirky venue to celebrate our wedding!! We got married on 23rd May and had wanted a woodland theme which was just magical thanks to the amazing set up by the Groundlings staff! It was absolutely amazing and I would not have changed a thing. The staff, especially Fran and Jim, could not have been more helpful, they were always on hand and worked so hard to make the day memorable for us. We were able to drop our decorations off a few days before and they sorted everything which meant we could relax (sort of) before our big day ! They were very accommodating to our amazing catering team Cavendish Kitchen and the silent disco run by Portsmouth wedding Dj's Carl Wood & Co! We are so happy with how everything went!! Thank you so much Nadine & James More...

A unique and beautiful place to have a wedding, from start to finish we had an amazing day. The staff are friendly and helpful throughout.

As we had the first full wedding from ceremony to reception we were 'the guineapigs' but we couldn't have asked for anything more.

Thankyou for making our day extra special

Just come home from watching My Fair Lady...what a show! Loved it from start to finish, the acting and singing was fantastic, and Eliza Doolittle. ..wow! The, sets were brilliant and what a gorgeous theatre...such character. I love the fact you sit around a table to watch the show...more relaxing and the little touches of having iced water at your table and a little treat bag made it a little more special. Thank you for a wonderful evening x More...

They were so friendly all day and the place looking absolutely incredible. All the guests commented on how amazing everything looked and how different it was. I am incredibly grateful to all the staff. I had the best day of my life. More...

We took our 4 year old daughter to see Wind in the Willows today, and she sat mesmerised throughout the performance. The cast were varied and fantastic, and the interactive element (including being able to enjoy our own picnic in the 'meadow') made it really special.
We'd never been to Groundlings Theatre before today, but after receiving such a warm welcome from the staff we shall definitely return. There is a lovely comfortable atmosphere, and the little pieces of memorabilia (including the news cuttings in the loo!) are a really nice touch.
Thank you for a wonderful couple of hours of entertainment.

Aladdin Panto
My days of forking out a fortune for big production theatre pantos with wooden “big names or celebs” are over. Brilliant Aladdin panto today. The cast and ensemble put everything into this for a thoroughly enjoyable and traditional, funny show. Quirky and friendly theatre too. Highly recommend. Get tickets! More...

Had an amazing time with the family at your panto, it was so lovely that the cast make time to chat with the kids. Also it’s so much more relaxing sitting around a table to watch instead of being cramped into tiny rows of seats.

Great Tour of the building, learning about characters and history. Met some famous people including the mother of Charles Dickens. Yes the place is haunted! Tours last about 80 mins and are great value at £5. Held twice a month. A must for visitors to Portsmouth. Also if you go for a tour you can park in the car park for free (get a voucher at reception to put in your car). More...

My 2 children have just had an amazing week at the Groundlings Theatre summer school. They have both thoroughly enjoyed their time there. The 2 performances today were brilliant. Well done to everyone involved. My little one has just been sat with tears rolling down her cheeks as she's suddenly realised it's all over and she won't see her friends that she made. More...

Some families even bought picnics to eat on 'grass' at the front of the stage. The actors and dancers were brilliant and we will definitely go again. More...

Our daughter loves going to the theatre! Who doesn't love a good panto?! Anyway I saw that the Groundlings Theatre had a production of Snow White on and I wanted to take her. Having only been to The Kings Threatre , Guildhall and Mayflower, I had to make enquiries about wheelchair accessibility. Anyway long story short they replied that sadly they didn't as it was a listed building. I was disappointed because I knew she would love the show. Fast forward two days later, the director Richard contacted me to offer Jevonne the opportunity to meet the cast today. They surprised her with a mini version of the show, a goody bag and a signed copy of the program! I am in awe. Thank you Groundings Theatre ! More...

A hidden gem of a theatre minutes away from Gunwharf Quays. It's smaller than the Kings, but with big ideas. There is always something on, and the theatre takes an interest in growing local talent, which is fab to see.
