Diane Martin
Cabinetry
As an interior designer I am always looking for talented, trustworthy craftsmen with a proactive attitude.
Gideon delivered all those points and beyond.
My design were executed to perfection and he had some very ingenious solution to problems encountered along the design process. His craftsmanship was excellent and he was very professional throughout the project and offered assistance and guidance whenever needed.
I cannot recommend him enough and look forward to working with him on future projects. It was inspiring to see my design come to life in his hands.

What do you love most about your job?
Clients often have a good idea of what they want and how it should look. I enjoy taking this initial idea and then work with either the customer directly or their designer to figure out how to practically bring their vision to reality.
It might be advice on materials or the dimensions necessary to make it work or a a few suggestions that then get integrated into the final design that makes every project exciting and new.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started making from a very young age. Throughout my teens, I spent holidays in my father’s carpentry workshop earning money building cabinets. I continued doing small projects during my uni years but at the time didn’t consider to turn it into a career.
Fast forward fifteen years.
In 2018, I bought a 1930’s terraced house in Barking as a renovation project which reignited my love for design, making and “thinking” with my hands. When the 2020 Covid lockdown hit and the forced introspection that came with it, I decided to turn the lifelong passion into a full time occupation and so Gideon Made It was born.
Why should our clients choose you?
I put a lot of emphasis on the design, the quality and the durability of all the work I do.
This means that it will not be the cheapest and it might take a little bit longer to get the design exactly right before we start, but it is important that when someone asks you "who made that piece of furniture for you?", you can say, "Gideon Made It".
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Some of it, yes. High level design can be done remotely. For CNC work you can send us your design files to have items cut.
Loose standing furniture is built in our workshop in the heart of Essex near Brentwood and can be delivered using a courier service.
For built-in cabinetry and fitted furniture I will naturally need to do that on site.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
This question is clearly now dated and I trust it will be removed by Bark in due course.
