- Speak to a planning consultant to confirm planning permission is not required.
- give notice to building control of your intention to start.
- move services if required
- form walls and window openings as required.
- add electrics and services as required
- insulate roof at ceiling or rafter level.
- Damp proof membrane to concrete floor with insulation over.
- insulate walls over battens

The ceiling joists are often only 100mm or 4 inches deep, so a deeper, stronger floor will be required to meet habitable standards under Building Regulations.
