What makes a great website?
A good brief! Seriously! it starts with a real understanding of your requirements. How you want the content organised and how the look and feel is tuned to your brand. The website needs to be easy to navigate, quick to load with strong call to actions.
Consistency of the user journey, colours, typography, imagery, simplicity, and functionality all feed into bullet proof website design.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is the work intended to accomplish?
What do you expect the final result to achieve?
Do you have competitors? and how different from your competition are you?
Describe your target audience?
What are the things you dislike and like, what are your design preferences?
Local, national or international company?
Do you have past examples of former marketing material have you used?
Are there any new design elements you would like to try in this project?
Do you have a budget for this project?
What material will you be providing us for this project?
Who are the primary contacts?
Describe your creative process.
There will be as many steps as required depending on the scale of the project but this is a very basic overview.
Brief stage:
Consultation, planning ( budgets and timings), team introduction, and client onboarding, introduction to our project management system
Research and creative stage:
Depending on the project and size this may require multiple steps and individual workflows. But the basics are the first response to the brief allowing for preliminary concepts. This can then be revised after client review.
Action stage:
Again, can be broken into multiple steps and sign offs if required. Essentially this is started after sign off from previous stage, and roll out/ build/ asset creation (whatever the deliverables are) will be actioned.
Soft Launch:
Approval of final work before final push live - whether its new logos/ websites/ film/ music or campaign work
Project signed off.
Ongoing reviews as instructed at start.
