Ewenny - a stop on the St Thomas Way - is a rural village in the Vale of Glamorgan, and a true Marcher location: a place of borders and crossing-places, where historic paths and old ways wind across the landscape. Ewenny was shaped by its Benedictine Priory in the Middle Ages, founded in the early twelfth century (probably) by William de Londres, who also built the first motte and bailey castle at neighbouring Ogmore. Much of the medieval Priory is still visible today, at Ewenny Priory Church, renowned as the most complete Norman church in south Wales. Highlights include the Romanesque arches supported by round pillars with scalloped capitals (in the church nave), fourteenth-century geometric patterned tiles in the crossing, and impressive stonework in the south transept, such as tombs of founders and priors, a twelfth-century carving of the Entry of Christ into Jerusalem, and ancient Celtic Christian stones, pre-dating the Priory. The presbytery (chancel) has stunning twelfth-century barrel- and crossed-rib-vaulting. More...

The most incredible spot for our wedding- not enough superlatives to do it justice! We loved having the opportunity to create exactly what we wanted in such a wonderful setting and Jeremy was a mine of information and help to us in the planning and right up to and on the day itself. We couldn't have asked for anything better- thank you for letting us use your beautiful venue. Everybody has raved about it since! More...

The priory is a true hidden gem, almost all of our guests are from the area and none of them knew of its beauty! We had the most incredible couple of days, including all of the build up to our wedding. The feedback we have received of the venue itself has been incredible!
Jeremy is a pleasure to have dealt with in the process. It really is such a gorgeous venue to have any celebration in. It gave us the perfect day, and we can't thank you enough for allowing us to have our special day at the venue xxx

Our festival-themed wedding was absolutely perfect thanks to this AMAZING setting (the sunshine definitely helped!). If you're looking to create your dream wedding from scratch then stop your search. .. Ewenny Priory is the best blank canvas you could ask for. All our guests were blown away by the beauty of the location and the relaxed attitude of the owner (Jeremy - who is a legend); we were able to bring in our own suppliers, decorate every corner of the grounds, take photos basically anywhere the photographer's heart desired.
Could not recommend Ewenny more thank you so so much!!!

Stunning historic building, interesting historically and architecturally. Definitely worth a visit even if you can only catch a glimpse of the mansion house, which isn't open to the public.
