My wife and I were struggling with ideas on how to landscape and rejuvenate our aged and rather overgrown garden. I was especially hesitant with regards to potential structural problems (we are on a slope, overlooking many trees of a park and have two large trees in the centre of our garden). I cannot recommend Anthony highly enough. He took on a very ambitious project, where initial planning wasn't easy as the site wasn't easy to survey. Nevertheless he helped us to create a bold vision - far more impactful than I would have ever been able to. As the project progressed, Anthony was able to flex the initial design as construction progressed. We decided to progress the project during the C19 restrictions and sourcing materials became increasingly difficult. Anthony and his team went to great lengths to find high quality materials. With regards construction, Anthony's team was tremendous. Given the nature of the site, much of the work had to be carried out manually and for nearly three months, the team worked tirelessly. He mapped out the process very clearly and was completely transparent regarding risks (and mitigation) and scope.His attitude and passion for creating something beautiful whilst carefully considering the surroundings is exactly what we wanted.His "build" team is as equally professional and passionate about their work. When issues arose they were all prepared to discuss options with us, and any remediation was addressed in a timely manner. I was recommended to Anthony back in August via friends. Although we live quite a long way from him, he decided that this wasnt an impediment to his work and we wanted to work with him anyway. Over the last 2 months he has been helping us along with our architect and builders as we finish off the main kitchen extension - basically ensuring we have all the project professionals and their designs agreed in terms of what happens immediately outside the extension - services/pertinent design features etc. Anthony then went onto complete his concept design package which we love - basically he captured everything we were after and then added several creative design details that will make the space feel special and unique to us. We had Anthony over to help us with an initial consultation ahead of our building extension works. We wanted his advice regarding infrastructure planning for the garden spaces immediate to our extension - this meant we could not only plan our budgets for the landscaping works in advance but we could also discuss efficiency gains to be had with Anthony by using trades, access and materials from the building works to facilitate some of the landscaping at the same time. We were also able to use much of Anthony’s knowledge allowing our architects and builders to adjust their plans for drainage, irrigation, lighting, power and hardscaping. What inspired you to start your own business?
Wanting to work in outdoor spaces. I spent 10 years as a project manager working for a construction company stuck in basements and plant rooms! I really wanted to focus on design elements, how plants and hardscape can work together and collaborative relationships with clients to achieve this.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm flexible in terms of working hours and days, a good problem solver, excellent professional communicator, I listen to my clients to ensure that I have a thorough 'brief' from them before I go about designing and adding little touches to inspire and extend them. Im up front and honest about what clients need, even if that means not needing a garden designer in the first place! I have a lot of experience in contracting, tendering, working with landscapers, running projects that sets me mostly apart from other garden designers. I also have contacts across the industry from contractors to trade plant suppliers.
