Domestic Matters is a Fife-based business, run by local mum, entrepreneur and house-proud cleaner Cara Wilson. The businesses is closely tied to motherhood: Cara set up her cleaning service in 2011, shortly after the birth of her first son, because she didn’t want to go back to work full time.

I have a little Airbnb with a hot-tub and the turnaround before check-out and check-in was really stressing me out, terrified of a dirty oven or anything that would set me back. Cara has been wonderful - she is fine with last minute bookings, fine with different days, just amazing. It's such a load off me, literally, that I'm happy to get on with the rest of the stuff and know that I'm getting help with the cleaning. Moira Rowan is my 92 year old father in law's cleaner . She does an excellent job and always goes that little bit further in everything she does . Despite several other people in and out his house she is the only one that manages to make him smile. Extras include taking a blanket home to wash , making him coffee and other things . How long have you been in business?
Domestic Matters was born in 2011. Our 10years experience is something we are very proud of.
Do you bring your own equipment and supplies?
We do ask that you supply all products to ensure we are using things you like / aren’t allergic to. For one off cleans and end of tenancy it’s normally easier for us to supply to save you having to deal with the extra hassles.
What do you love most about your job?
We love the end results , seeing our customers shoulders immediately drop as the the stress is taken away from them. Knowing we are making a difference in someone’s life is a great feeling.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had just given birth to my first son and the thought of full time hours , sleepless nights etc. I decided to start slow and build up , which has worked very well for me.

Domestic Cleaning
At Domestic Matters, we offer a very reasonably priced regular service. Households across Fife can now sit back and enjoy a bit more time with their friends and family in a beautifully clean house: Our reliable local cleaners will do the hard work for you!
Regular cleaning can be organised weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Our fully disclosure-checked staff arrive in uniform and ready to carry out tasks chosen by you at your induction consultation.
Oven Cleaning
It’s the job everyone dreads: giving the oven its annual scrub.

Because not all cleaning is required on a schedule, Domestic Matters is happy to take on ‘one off’ jobs as well as our regular Domestic Cleaning, Oven Cleaning and End of Tenancy services. Whether you need a whole property cleaning from top to bottom, or you have a particular job that you don’t fancy tackling yourself, we’ll be happy to help.
It’s worth noting that with their expertise and specialised equipment and materials, our cleaners can often remove stains and grime that it is almost impossible for the non-professional cleaner to shift. If you are having problems getting a carpet, kitchen or bathroom properly clean, for example, we suggest you don’t give up until you’ve tried our service.
