Q&As

Converting a garage into habitable accommodation is the perfect way of increasing living space. You’ll be gaining extra room from the existing footprint of the garage, unlike you would be for an extension, which would use up valuable out door space and in most cases planning permission isn't required

Making a garage into a liveable space isn't just a case of moving your furniture into it. Here's the basic process you can expect of jobs required during a garage conversion.

Level, insulate and damp-proof the floor.

Infill the garage door to create a solid wall if required

Insulate the walls and the roof

Plasterboard and plaster

Decorate

To be suitable for conversion to living accommodation, it helps if you’ve got a sizeable roof space to start with.

A simple way to calculate this is by measuring the gross internal floor area of all the existing top floor rooms under the loft you want to convert.

Most lofts can provide at least 20m2 of gross floor area which, on paper, should be more than enough for a double bedroom. However, not all of this space will be useable.  A lot depends on the roof pitch – as a rule, the steeper the better.

The roof space is inspected to see if its suitable for conversion.
Plans drawn up and structure checked.
Loft area cleared and prepared.
Wiring and plumbing check and installed as required.
New floor joists installed.
Floors to be insulated.
Floor boards laid once building control have seen installed insulation.
Rafters can now be reinforced if required following structural report.
Dormer window or rooflights installed.
New staircase fitted.
Stud walls built at eaves levels.
Insulation installed to roof section and eaves stud work.
Walls and ceiling plasterboarded.
Walls and ceiling plastered.
2nd fix carpentry, electrics and plumbing carried out.
Decoration.
Final inspection and your new habitable accommodation complete.

I have been in the construction industry for the past 24 years and although this is a new business adventure i have been helping to run a construction business for the last 11 years and have vast experience.

All our work is guaranteed for 10 years and we will always come back and solve any issues.

I love meeting new customers and helping them to find their perfect solution that meets their requirements.

Main inspiration was my desire to always have my own construction company and help others to achieve their living space requirements.

We provide our clients with a 5 star service from start to finish .
We will work closely with our clients to ensure that the job we achieve is exactly what they require.

First contact we arrange a suitable time and date to come out and view works required, once we have viewed works and spoken with the client to discuss requirements, we get together a quote for work required.
We are on hand to answer any questions regarding both works and quotation.

We have followed all government guidelines to ensure that we protect both ourselves and our customers ie face coverings when inside, hand sanitation etc .
