Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick

This hotel offers a 3- course lunch at £22.50 a head; it’s reasonable value considering it’s a 4* Hotel & you sit at a table with waiter service and white table cloth which adds an air of formality. |The service was above average, the bread rolls were relatively fresh.|The starter buffet was ok with smoked salmon but no fresh prawns which was disappointing, given that comparable buffets in higher end locations elsewhere nearly always include prawns in the buffet.|I noticed a home made cauliflower & Stilton soup that smelled delicious but I feared I wouldn’t have room if that was eaten too.|The chef was generous with the roast beef and turkey. The cauliflower cheese I think has been made with Gruyere cheese it was very rich, we enjoyed it , along with the trimmings and sides to the roast dinner.|I managed a delicious coffee mouse/ sponge for desert plus some melon and cheese. So easy to get from here to Gatwick. Food and drinks good and reasonably priced. Rooms could do with a bit of a refresh but very clean and quiet. Would recommend.

The Copthorne may be a large hotel, but it's one that combines some traditional and historic features with a kindly and efficient staff who do their utmost to make guests comfortable. I had requested a quiet room, as I had some work to do; I got a quiet room. The relaxed, family-friendly health club next door meant that I could go swimming in between my writing work sessions. We had a 6am flight from Gatwick, over 100 miles from home, so the room/parking option at the Copthorne was ideal. We had stayed here a few years ago and nothing has changed really. ||||Parking instructions on arrival could be a bit clearer, but there were plenty of spare spaces. We stayed in a ground floor room -311-not that far from Reception. The room was clean, warm, well decorated and quite big. It looked out over a car park. Comfortable double bed, 4 pillows, safe, small tv, kettle, hairdryer, iron & board, small table and 2 chairs, fridge, shower gel, shampoo, all included. The room was quiet throughout. Two minor suggestions - it would be useful to have a charging point near the bed and more room in the bathroom for toilet bags. ||||We ate in the Library Bar, having paid for a 3 course dinner. We could have whatever we wanted from the menu, irrespective of cost. If we wanted to eat in one of the other restaurants we had £19.50 to put towards the cost of the meal. The meal was very good. ||||Check out was easy and the hotel had booked a taxi which arrived on time and got us to the airport within 15 minutes, despite the M23 being closed. If we had to fly from Gatwick again we will probably book here. There are cheaper parking packages and there are closer hotels to the airport, but the Copthorne ticked all the boxes for us and there is a nice, classy feel to the hotel. More...

Stayed here recently and I cannot fault our stay. ||||My husband and I had booked a room on short notice and We knew the hotel would have a old country feel too it and though the hotel could do with some simple upgrades. The hotel is actually great value for money. ||||The Club rooms and Suites are very nice and the fact you get breakfast and free parking as part of the price adds to sense of great value. ||||You get two good resturants, a bar and room service and the food does not disappoint no matter where you chose to eat.||||However its not the nice spacious Club rooms or Suites with baths and showers or the great food that makes this hotel special.||||That honour goes to the staff who cannot do enough to help make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as they can. ||||They care not because they are paid to but because it matters too them that their customers leave feeling like they matter and were able to switch off and enjoy their holiday. ||||This attitude towards great customer care is demonstrated best by Toni the Duty Manager. What a great place to stay for a little rejuvenation either before or after a Gatwick flight! It’s quiet (no fly over noise, no noisy guests—I’d requested a quiet wing of hotel and got exactly that); tastefully decorated in a classic style; a little worn at the edges but at the great price (& access to free fitness centre pool!) who cares? We were a group of 6 and booked the Club twin rooms. We stayed for two nights during weekend of 1st to 3rd November. It is a bit of a walk to the rooms and no lift. However, once in the room, it was clean, comfortable and roomy. The beds were comfy and I had a good night's sleep. ||We ate and drank at the bar and although a little pricey, we enjoyed it as we were on a weekend break. The bar staff were courteous and accommodating. The hotel lobby was welcoming with the wood fire and Halloween decorations. It was a pleasant place to wait in for friends to come down from their rooms. ||Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection for most people- cooked hot, cereals, fruit and beverages We ate amply on both mornings.||Parking was discounted to £5 a day (£7 usual) as we were staying in the hotel. We always stay here the night before flying out of Gatwick. Yes the hotel is dated but it’s also clean, comfortable and traditional. I love staying in the autumn/winter because of the welcoming fire in reception. Fair price especially when leaving the car for a fortnight. Hosted a family party here last weekend. The staff could not have been more helpful, the food was delicious and plenty of it, great atmosphere and plenty of space. We did not feel rushed at any time and everything we asked for was carried out with ease. We used this hotel for a night's accommodation plus parking for two weeks while we flew from Gatwick to Canada. Excellent value for both the hotel and the parking which is on site within the extensive grounds. The staff move your car from the car parks nearest reception and then bring it back close to reception on the day of your return. The food in the restaurant on the evening before our flight was excellent and overall added to the experience. Booked their Park & Fly package. Perfect, the room was comfy and the staff so helpful and professional. We used the taxi service instead of the bus and the staff booked this for us. ||We enjoyed the cocktails, ate at Lion d'Or restaurant which was really, really excellent. ||On returning from our holiday we collected our car and the staff even took the time to ask if we'd had a good holiday - it's the little things that make a difference. ||We'll be back. Wir waren an einer Tagung und Seminar, und wählten das Copthorne Hotel dieses Jahr. Da ich vom letzten Jahr ja man kann schon sagen leicht geschädigt war in einem anderen Hotel, muss man das vertrauen wieder aufbauen. Aber das Hotel hat alles erfüllt was wir brauchten, und wie beschrieben. Sauber geräumig mit Föhn Gläteisen und das Morgenessen war sehr umfangreich und beinhaltete alles was gewünscht wurde. A group of us stayed for 1 night. A comfortable place to stay and reasonably close to the airport. We all had a nice meal in the restaurant but the price is a bit steep and portion size was a bit small for me, but the food itself was excellent and the staff were very welcoming and made our group meal good fun. All in all a nights stay with the car parking for the week made the stay good value. Would definitely return for another visit if using Gatwick again. More...
