We wanted to completely refurbish our sitting room, with new furniture, lighting and soft furnishings. We had some vague ideas and preferred colours but didn't know where to go from there. A big task was to design a replacement for our old 1970s stone fireplace. As it is the focal point of the room and used for open fires we wanted something functional but striking and quite contemporary that also fitted in well with the age and style of the house. At the initial consultation Jessica helped us to focus on what we wanted to achieve, how we use the space and the atmosphere we wanted to create, as well as addressing practical considerations and budget. After agreeing on the design concept, we had a clearer idea of the look and feel of the room and we were thrilled with Jessica's final design, which was beautifully presented and accompanied by a range of samples and swatches so we could see all the finishes. The design for the fireplace with its handmade tiled and other bespoke features showed Jessica's ability to seek out and commission unique designer makers. Jessica also assisted in implementing the scheme and was great with liaising with tricky tradesmen! We are absolutely delighted with the result. Jessica's brief was to produce proposals to update an awkward hall, landing and stairs. She was presented with a blank canvass and budget from which to work. The result has been a great success and drawn many admiring comments. Jessica produced a comprehensive mood board which included variations in choice and pricing.
