What inspired you to start your own business?
Clarendon Home Care was founded by Jackie Jones in 1994. She drew on her many years of experience as a care worker and as a care manager at Richmond Council to envision a company that not only provided daily care and support to the elderly, but did so with the belief that no care is better than care received at home.
She saw the benefits that receiving care in a familiar environment can have on the independence, the physical wellbeing and mental wellbeing of elderly people.
“Care homes have improved a lot since I was a care worker but just as I did then, I still feel that people are happier and better at home. It always saddened me to see how the people I was looking after seemed to shrink in a care home environment when I had seen them flourishing in their own four walls just a short time before.”

I wanted to help wherever we could and to be honest and upfront when we couldn’t. I also wanted a place where carers could feel like part of something bigger and would be given the respect and rewards they deserve for the amazing job they do.”
The goals of Clarendon Home Care haven’t changed since our earliest days and Jackie is still an active director of the company who continues to instil her vision in everybody that joins us, from our care workers to our office staff and management team.

Visiting Home Care
We’ve been providing award-winning home care since 1994. With our Home Care service, a fully-trained care assistant will come to your door each day and provide you or your loved one with the support you require, based on the personalised care plan we’ll draw up together. Some people might have a visit once or twice a week while people with more complex care needs might require up to four visits a day. Visits can last anywhere from fifteen minutes up to three hours.
Live in Care
Live-in care is a cost-effective alternative to residential care that allows you to maintain independence and control at home. It offers people the opportunity to build a closer relationship with one carer and to receive around-the-clock support from a trained professional that lives with you and who knows your routines as well as you do. Live-in care allows people to stay in control of their life, keep up with their hobbies, interests and routines and to maintain relationships with their family, friends, neighbours and their wider community.
Companionship Visits
We all get a bit lonely sometimes and need a bit of company. Our care team really love providing our clients with what we call sitting visits - specially arranged times for somebody to come to your home and spend an hour or two with you. Because sitting visits are free of the normal care routines, it’s up to you how you spend them. Maybe you’d just like a chat or perhaps play cards or a board game. Our sitting service allows you to really take some time to bond with your care worker and vice versa.
Domestic & Cleaning
Our cleaning services are specifically designed to meet the needs of older or more vulnerable people and as such we put the focus not on finding just anybody to show up at your door at random times, but on the safety, security and absolute reassurance of our clients and their families. We’ll send regular carers at mutually convenient times, all of who will be dressed in our uniform and wearing a photo ID badge. All of our cleaners are interviewed in person, thoroughly background checked and fully managed by our specialist care team.
Out and About Services
If staying indoors isn’t your thing, we can also provide somebody to come and help you get out and about. Whether it’s a trip to a friend’s, a walk in the park or even a seaside excursion, we’ll provide a fully trained care worker to drive you where you want to go and also to give you any assistance you might need throughout the day. Much like sitting visits, our out and about service gives clients time to bond with their carers beyond the many routines of daily life.
Shopping or Run-around Visits
If you can’t get out to the supermarket for whatever reason or find a weekly shop hard to handle, why not let us send one of our care team to pop out and do it for you? Alternatively, if you like to go yourself but need some assistance, we can send somebody to go with you and perhaps stop for a tea or coffee along the way. Online shopping and delivery is one way to do things, but there’s nothing quite like browsing the aisles yourself!
