We stayed in the Junior Suite (Tennyson) and it was worth paying that little extra. It was a good size with lovely views of the castle across the road. The room was quiet, which as a light sleeper was a bonus, and the bed very comfortable. The room is at the top of the building so if you are not good with stairs this may not be the room for you. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection of options. There is free parking but the car park is quite tight. Staff were friendly and helpful and the greeting on arrival very warm. Location is perfect. Just a short walk to the Cathedral, Castle and local restaurants and pubs. The hotel is situated near to the top of Steep Hill. A lovely old street with many boutique shops.but as the name suggests it's a bit of a climb back to the top. I suggest a little tipple before the return climb lol. The hotel is a very lovely place to stay and I'd highly recommend it. More...

Super site between Castle and Cathedral, and at top of Steep Hill. There is a bus stop for the “Steep Hill Shuttle”, aka Walk and Ride, just across Westgate from the hotel. Walk down the hill and get the bus back. Great pubs and restaurants in Bailgate, just around the corner. We stayed for three nights in “Franklin” on second floor (no lift!) with windows on two sides, with views to castle walls and cathedral (when the tree blocking the view to the cathedral loses its leaves). Heating failed on day we arrived, but electric heaters provided until system repaired the following day. These things happen, and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Reform restaurant closed on Tuesday, but excellent suggestions for nearby restaurants. Lovely food in Reform on the next two nights, and the 2 or 3 course set dinner option on Wednesdays and Thursdays which includes a bottle of excellent wine is incredible value. We were able to park for free in the hotel car park. We would stay here again, it was ideal. More...

Very nice traditional hotel in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln. We had a deluxe room in the main building which had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel has its own restaurant which doubles up as the breakfast room and although we didn't dine there, if the high quality of the delicious breakfast is anything to go by, an evening meal would be well worth trying. It also has a bar which was an additional advantage. The staff were without exception very friendly, cheerful, helpful and efficient. There is no lift which might be an obstacle for some guests but there are some ground floor rooms available and on arrival our cases were taken up to our room for us which was wonderful. Another big bonus is that it has its own car park (free for guests) and there is a pubic car park almost opposite the hotel. Good value for money. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay! More...

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. It is situated at the top of Steep Hill next to the castle and accessible by road. The hotel has a small private car park in which we were lucky to get a space, any later and we would have probably been disappointed, although I am sure there is public parking nearby.||The location is perfect for exploring the historic centre of the city and is a beautifully restored old building which now has a “boutique “ feel. Our room was small but well presented. The bar and outside seating area are both attractive and a lovely spot to relax.||My only small gripe would be that on arrival at 18.55 for 19.00 in the restaurant for dinner the young waitress informed us that we were early and therefore would not show us to our table. This was pedantic as we did not wish to go to the bar for five minutes. Surely we could have been seated and ordered our drinks from the table. In the event we wandered around for five minutes and then returned to be seated. Also, the meal we would only describe as average.||However, overall a pleasant stay. More...
